Top notch. I have the fortune of having Peter Michaels and/or Aubert Chardonnay most Friday nights (thanks J&S!) and this is right up there with them. A bit fuller than a previous bottle. Tropical fruit, caramel (after warming up), good acidity.

A big full bodied pinot. Does show some restraint though and overall is very nice. Probably at the back end of its ideal window for my pallette. Overall very enjoyable and held up to a steak dinner.

Very, very good for $30, but found the oak a little too forward. Still - quintessential RRV pinot with dark cherry and spice with a long finish. Will pick up more but that's because I'm already a fan of the winery.

Retail $50. I let my wife chose the wine on this Father’s Day (I provided her three choices–I am not completely insane) and a fine choice it was. Every time I pop open a Dutton-Goldfield I say the same thing: I need to get more of this stuff. Incredible nose of classic Russian River/Green Vally fruit; the kind of nose that you can easily engulf you. The palate was more of the same–great balance and acidity. It also had a bit of heft along side a silky elegance which paired wonderfully with the grilled pork chops. Outstanding. 91-93 Points.

Syrah? Hmm—not getting black pepper, nor olive, just something indistinctly herbal on the nose. Oh well, the soft blackberry-fruited entry is nice enough; sweet mid-palate shows oak but otherwise pretty inexpressive. $50 at cellar door. 88P(?)

Serious, “weighty” scent with a hint of eucalyptus seems to promise concentration and richness; sweet plummy entry quickly mutates to Cherry Coke before the tannic, slightly bitter, headily alcoholic mid-palate sets in; surprisingly abrupt, dry, tannic finish. $74 for the "library release" at cellar door. 87P

Deep dark-red fruit scent with an intoxicating whiff of cocoa powder, which became more milk chocolate-like as the wine warmed up to room temperature. Broad dark-red fruited entry, rather heavy and low acid; rich sweet oaky dark cherry mid-palate fruit. All in all, a pretty weighty PN, lacking lift and acid verve. $74 at cellar door. 89P

Eucalyptus, perhaps a touch of menthol and pure red fruited-scent; medium-bodied entry, lifted with bright acid and more eucalyptus; mid-palate surprisingly bad-tempered—short and dry, as was the finish. Very attractive PN. $74 at cellar door. 90P

This is supposed to have a “stone fruit and floral” scent. Well I never. But despite not really smelling of anything (other than perhaps a rather neutral white wine) it is pleasant enough. Medium-bodied, emollient entry is more anodyne than the mid-palate, which picks up acidity towards the finish. $33 at cellar door. 85P
