The wine was fermented until semi-dry, finishing at 15% alcohol and 10 g/l residual sugar. Consistent with my previous tasting note: this is a humongous, heavy and slightly malty monster-Grüner. A white wine equivalent of a Riserva Amarone. Interesting, but not particularly drinkable. This is just way too much over-the-top. Exceptional stuff, nevertheless. Pale straw color, the nose opens with significant notes of white peach, apricot, plum, and almond. Light hints of exotic fruit and minerality. In the mouth, a great acidity stimulates salivation, projecting the wine for long seconds in its verticality on the palate. Aftertaste of peach tea. Bellissimo vino dal carattere deciso e intenso. Colore paglierino scarico, al naso apre con note importanti di frutta pesca bianca, albicocca, susina e mandorla. Leggeri accenni di frutta esotica e mineralità. In bocca una gran bella acidità attiva la salivazione proiettando il vino per lunghi secondi nella sua verticalità nel palato. Retrogusto di tè alla pesca. Do you find this review helpful? Light bright clear lemon yellow color 👏 Light plus body. Very high acidity. Very mineral. Not very crispy. Long very sour ending. Wonderfully aromatic, citrus, tropical fragrance, grass, green tree fruits 👏 Same on the palate: lemon, grapefruit, lime, green apple, peach, apricot, pineapple, kiwi, passion fruit, salt, honey, stone, earthy notes. Naturnahe, aber kein typischer "Natural". Grün-gelbe Farbe mit leichter Trübung und schöner Frische im Duft und am Gaumen. Wunderbar zu gebratenen Garnelen, trocken aber blumig im Gesamteindruck. Infos: Grande coopérative de vignerons de la région viticole de la Wachau en Basse-Autriche, basée à Dürnstein, qui a été fondée en 1938 sous le nom de "Winzergenossenschaft Wachau" par l'achat de l'ancien vignoble de la famille Starhemberg. En 1990, il a été rebaptisé "Freie Weingärtner Wachau" et fonctionne depuis 2008 sous le nouveau nom de "Domäne Wachau". Johann Martin a été élu nouveau président lors de l'assemblée générale de 2009. Le directeur général est Mag. Roman Horvath (Master of Wine). Heinz Frischengruber est responsable de l'œnologie. La philosophie est la suivante : Le Domäne Wachau s'efforce d'obtenir le caractère d'origine le plus authentique dans ses vins. La Wachau et les grands sites ou vignobles individuels doivent être exprimés de manière précise et claire. Il est également important d'avoir un fruit long et stable, qui se transforme ensuite, après quelques années, dans le cas de vins de qualité appropriée, en notes de maturité complexes. La haute aptitude à la conservation des Smaragden sélectionnés est un objectif explicite de la vinification par cette approche. L'ensemble du processus de production est réalisé selon les critères de durabilité certifiés de Nachhaltig Austria. Domäne Wachau a fait partie des pères fondateurs du Vinea Wachau Nobilis Districtus avec les niveaux de qualité Steinfeder, Federspiel et Smaragd en 1983 avec le directeur Willi Schwengler. Les meilleurs vins sont le Smaragde à vignoble unique de Grüner Veltliner et le Riesling, ainsi que les vins doux (surtout le Riesling TBA Kellerberg). Des vins datant de 1947 sont conservés dans les vastes archives. En 1999, Domäne Wachau a été le premier producteur de vin autrichien à remporter le titre d'"International Winery of the Year" décerné par Wine & Spirit. Environ 2,5 millions de bouteilles de vin sont produites chaque année. Dans la distillerie interne, Grüner Veltliner est doublement distillé et mûrit pendant des années dans de petits fûts en bois. Although they generally come from the best historical single plots, Domane Wachau calls this a "village level" blend from several different sites. They’re able/willing to do this because they’re a growers co-op that owns 30% of all vineyards in the Wachau. Thus the amazing QPR. Anyways…Great nose on this—white flowers, lime, celery and fennel.
