Winter Birds and Waterfowl Wine Event (Judith's House, WI): Very dark red color. PNP, 1 glass over an hour. Its been two years sine last having this, and I wondered how it would be holding up. Well the answer was quite well. Nice ripe black fruits on the nose, with blackberry, black plum, cassis, some red fruit, fresh. The palate has boysenberry, kirsch, layered, just a bit sour, blackberry liqueur, nice pepper, and a medium plus finish. Still can go a couple years based on this bottle. 91+pts.

An example of a wine deliciously in balance if not overly complex in flavor profile. Acid, alcohol, tannin & fruit in line and for $13 this was a steal. Sad that there's no more of this vintage that I can find. The other Syrahs in my collection better step up.

Still enjoyable but a shadow of itself and last bottle I own. Roasted meats, minerals, spices and cedar. A bit bitter and not the fruit of previous bottles. Past prime. 87

Changing in the glass an hour later and much better. 90

13.8% Fading burgundy color. Flawed nose of ethyl acetate, thankfully this faded quickly, but was always present. Flowers, red liquorice and currant nose. Currant, dried cherry and some ethyl acetate character on the palate. A bit to much acid still, but I think this was an original imbalance and will continue to show that way. This wine does offer great quality fruit (flaws aside) at a cheap price. I like it at $10

Somewhat past prime. Nose predominantly oaky. Initial impression on palate is a tartness but the fruit has faded and doesn't carry the acidity. Disappointing for only 8 years old..

Older Washington State Wines: Should have drank these a year ago. Not as good and lost the fruit. Menthol, spice, licorice and minerals. Medium finish.

Aged Washington Cabs/Blends (Anna's, Mpls): Very dark purple color. PNP with aeration. Followed 1 glass over 1.5hrs. Nose has fairly deep black fruits still, blackberry, earth comes out well, blackberry liqueur. The palate while good initially, faded very fast. The fruit was there on initial evaluation but rapidly became tart and spcy. There is ample glycerin, some menthol, spice, blackberry and blackberry liqueur with a tart finish. Past drinking window, drink up, no decant or prep recommended.

Black olives, earth, black licorice and dark fruits. This wine is still evolving and is the best wine in America that no one knows about except a handful in the Twin Cities. A former Wineglas Top Ten of the Year.

Wonderful wine. The fruit is there (mostly cherry) but so is the earthiness that really makes this wine stand out. It's a medium bodied red that can be paired easily with mushrooms. We even had veggie/hummus tray that it was fun to drink with. Food friendly, balanced, with a little spice.

Memorial Day weekend wines at Mike's: Not sure what this blend is. Dusty, hot black cherries on the nose. Sweet, one dimensional drinking. Its a fine wine and perhaps past its drinking window, but not up my alley.

Memorial Day weekend wines at Mike's: Another interesting take on what I believe to be a cool climate Syrah. Black raspberries and some black pepper. Medium bodied. On the palate, there is some heat, but nice boyseberry fruit, good acidity. Needs food, but worked well with food. Nice wine. My first time trying this winery.

Developing nicely with red currants, earth, cigar and spices. Concentrated wine and a bit rustic overall but nice. Medium finish and plenty of flavors. A good burger or steak wine. Still quite tannic.

Very dark red/purple color. Best bottle of this yet and sadly the last. Beautiful from the start. Aerated into decanter and drank over 90 minutes. Nose shows a burst of plum, than evovles into blackberry, cassis, some dried herbs, spice, and a distinct earthiness that i love. The palate is medium full with consistent flavors, very good balance and a long, lush finish. No waiting for day 2 at this point.

Lush, juicy, bloody, direct syrah. Black purple in color. Nose is violets and dark cocoa. Mouthfeel is chewy, big blackberry and raspberry on the palate with rush of black adn white pepper on the finish. A very scrumptuos syrah, particularly for the price, bargain at $15.

Also, thanks to wineglas for their notes. Helped in the decison to buy.

Minneapolis Wine Club does Washington State Reds (Surprise winners) (Tracy's): This wine blind beat the 2002 Andrew Will Ciel du Cheval and the 2003 Long Shadows Pedestal each receiving 94 points from a critic. It received 7 out of the 11 votes. Cherry, olives, coffee beans and raspberries on the nose. The palate offers a touch of sweet fruits and is smooth overall. Medium finish with plenty going on. It will be interesting if this winery every catches on.

Wow! Still showing well. Blueberries, menthol, dark cherries, spice and medium tannins. Medium to long finish which reveals a smoke quality. I will be pouring this blind tonight against a Betz Syrah and see what the group likes better.

Another nice showing of this wine with cherry, forest floor, menthol and spice. On the palate it is fresh with cherry, spice, menthol, blueberries and earth. Medium finish and a really balanced wine. For under $15 one of the better Washington State wines out there.

Another nice showing and a day 3 review. More complex with coffee, spice, plum and cherry on the nose. The palate is structured and a perfect combo of fruit and earth. Medium to long finish. This wine will age for five plus years.

dark red /purple color. Day 1 was disappointing, disjointed, with plum, blackberry, alcohol, pepper, and anise, probably an 86-87 at that point. Certainly not what I have come to expect from this wine. Well then the transformation happened on day 2. At 24 hours this integrated and was what I expected. Nose shows sweet fruits, blueberry, plums, blackberry with hints of blackberry liqueur, a distinct earth note and spices. The palate is full and round with tart fruit, pepper, nice acid and a good finish. This wine evolved from good to really good in 24 hours! 91+pts.

The palate is showing ripe fruits featuring plum, blackberries and raspberries along with spices, oak, vanilla and forest floor. Medium finish and soft tannins. Really drinking well now but should continue to evolve over the next three years.
