Needs at least 1-1.5 hours to open up before gaining some well-balanced meatiness with classic notes of sour cherry. Good wine.

Very impressed with most 2017 BDMs I have tried.

Tasted at a dinner on Disney Cruise.

Dried red berries, round tanins, and refined finish (less acidity). Expected more concentration and intensity.

Could have just passed its prime time. But cannot be sure since I have never tasted a 20 years old BDM Riserva before.

Destemmed and fermented in stainless steel, aged in big oak barrels and bottled in January 2013, 14% vol.

Decanted 2 hours before dinner. Mature nose with red stone fruit, underwood and a suggestion of mushrooms, on the palate smooth tannin, medium+ acidity, full bodied and long finish.

It's my first bottle from this brand and expected something more modern looking at the label but in fact it is a very old school Brunello, slightly on the rustic side but still very enjoyable, drink now or within the next 4 to 6 years.

My last two bottles. Decanted 3 hrs, it really benefits from air. Med+ garnet. Med+, developed aromas of wild black & red cherries, dried black plum, dried herbs, forest floor, cigar box & sweet baking spices from 2 yrs in large oak casks. Dry, w/ generous fruit, med+ to high acidity, med+, polished tannins & med+ alcohol. Full body, w/ med+ flavor intensity & a long finish. A big but elegant wine, w/ great balance. Approaching its peak but w/ several years left. WS 93.

The colour and nose suggested that this was going to be a lighter style of Brunello, which was ultimately confirmed on the palate. There is considerable 'funk' which does blow off to a degree over time, I was under the impression that the wine would blossom during our meal and it did improve a little bit with a deepening intensity, but it plateaued after about an hour with the cork out. Perhaps this bottle was a little bit tainted - too much funk muting the fruit. Once we got past it's simplicity we were able to enjoy it for what it was - a light and refreshing style of Brunello with some vibrancy and a simple array of typical Sangiovese characteristics. Nothing extraordinary and I expected more.

Aromatic and complex nose with nut, carob, earth, dried berry, hoisin, and creosote aromas. Medium-full bodied with dry, smart tannins and spiced flavours; long, dynamic finish.

I min optik fortsat ikke klar. Et godt glas vin med alle sangioveses fortræffeligheder. Syren er dog fortsat kantet, så bør iltes godt eller helst gemmes 2-3 år endnu.

Decanted 30 minutes into Magnum decanter.
Left two glasses in the decanter overnight.

Ruby,
Strawberry Cherry on nose
Cherry plum
Thyme
Freshly ground black pepper. (Maybe a touch of cayenne! 🤣.. she's a spicy one!)
Old Leather Earth mushroom light tobacco

Body medium full
Balanced nice
Alcohol high
Acid high
Tannins high, but seems to be resolving - definitely too early. Better in 5yrs
Viscosity medium enveloping mouthfeel
Finish- long 60s+

Addendum - 24 hours later, lost some freshness, unsurprisingly I think. But, it gained tannic structure, I me indicating significant longevity.
Other character remained.
Seems to be a winner.

Buy more, but don't open it until 2030!

Sangiovese 100%
14% abv

Wheat Penne with Rose` Sauce, Roma tomatoes and plastered with shredded Parmigiano Reggiano.

2nd night... freaking awesome Marguerita pizza.

Dominant riped cherry, good amount of pleasant acidity, and polished tanin.

Almost everything you can expect from a well made BDM.

Lacks complexity; but easily ccessible and enjoyable BDM.

Recommended.

From magnum... silky smooth. Started off smelling tired and oxidized but then the fruit came out in full display
