With MPL at Singer & Foy tasting of '83 Pinots. Dark ruby. Great brooding appearance. Good bouquet. Rich, deep. On the palate, mouthfilling, rich, good, varietal. 5-10-16-7: 88/100.

This would have been a solid 87/88 pointer if couple of years younger. Unfortunately the wine was going blousy and starting to lose grip and clearly in decline.
For the pot.

This is big and ripe; tons of dark cherry and vanilla. No stems present at all. Thankfully there’s enough acid to keep it interesting. Maybe it doesn’t represent stellar value at $75, but it’s a well done example of a highly extracted Willamette Pinot.

Eaten with food (rotisserie chicken, bread, uncooked vegetables with hummus) and then appreciated alone after 1-2h of air.

On the nose quite earthy and eventually notes of red cherries pulls through.

On the palate, medium plus acid, medium minus tannins (but they’re there). Long finish. Again the red fruit.

This reminds me a lot of Burgundy, more so than other Willamette Pinots. After it’s opened up, there’s intense forest floor, mushrooms, and cola/baking spices on the nose. The fruits are pretty indicative of a McMinnville/marine sedimentary soil to me—more prominent raspberry and blueberry as opposed to strawberry or cherry. Superb value at ~$25. I’ve had multiple wines from Yamhill Valley Vineyards and every single one stood out for punching way above its weight. I should really join their club..

Consider me very impressed. While the ‘15, ‘16, and ‘17 were all so different, this is my favorite of the three. It helps that it’s by far the driest.

The nose is very bright with lime zest, grapefruit, and light petroleum. Lemon-lime transforms into apricot which blends into yeast and minerality on the palate. As soon as I’m done with one sip, I want another. Still can’t believe this is only $18.

This is among the most intense plastic notes I’ve ever gotten on a Riesling. It’s a little overwhelming on the nose, but it integrates well into the rest of the palate. Sweet honey, honeysuckle, ripe apricot, and yellow apples accompany the petrol carried by a noticeable amount of residual sugar. Paired very well with Szechuan food. It’s a good deal at $16 and I just wish I had more bottles to see how it’s developed in a few years.

The Fourth Annual World’s Largest Blind Tasting of American Pinot Noir: Retail $60. Medium color, muted nose with a hint of bacon. Good fruit, however, on the palate with decent balance, but a relatively short finish. Nice.

My first from the McMinnville AVA.

Rustic earthiness that I initially mistakened for smokiness. Cherries. Med plus acidity. Med plus finish.

Day 2 the earthiness is less in your face and overall the wine seems more integrated.
