9/1/2020 - evjoh Likes this wine: NRThis reminds me a lot of Burgundy, more so than other Willamette Pinots. After it’s opened up, there’s intense forest floor, mushrooms, and cola/baking spices on the nose. The fruits are pretty indicative of a McMinnville/marine sedimentary soil to me—more prominent raspberry and blueberry as opposed to strawberry or cherry. Superb value at ~$25. I’ve had multiple wines from Yamhill Valley Vineyards and every single one stood out for punching way above its weight. I should really join their club.. |

7/31/2020 - evjoh Likes this wine: NRConsider me very impressed. While the ‘15, ‘16, and ‘17 were all so different, this is my favorite of the three. It helps that it’s by far the driest. |

7/4/2020 - evjoh wrote: NRThis is among the most intense plastic notes I’ve ever gotten on a Riesling. It’s a little overwhelming on the nose, but it integrates well into the rest of the palate. Sweet honey, honeysuckle, ripe apricot, and yellow apples accompany the petrol carried by a noticeable amount of residual sugar. Paired very well with Szechuan food. It’s a good deal at $16 and I just wish I had more bottles to see how it’s developed in a few years. |
