1915 Château MargauxRed Bordeaux Blend more |
11/16/2019 - Mr. Ladurée wrote: NRA tribute note, rather than tasting note; supposedly 1915, disastrous vintage (rainy, rainy and humid), atrocious conditions (WWI labour shortage, poor material, mildew); MS, soaked black cork albeit not crumbled; still clean colour, no opacity, wild balsamic, mocha nose, whiff of port sweetness on the medicinal side, and light but undeniable vinegar touch; fairly delicate medium length, and still drinkable yet lacking its former fruit and structure, turned acidic ages ago; worth the experience given Mouton and Latour didn't even bother and declassified their entire crop. |

1961 Château Mouton RothschildPauillac Red Bordeaux Blend more |
1/15/2020 - Mr. Ladurée Likes this wine: 100 pointsPerfect bottle, mint provenance; still a dark ruby red, beautiful colour; cassis perfume from the start, pencil shavings, cedar wood, and cigarbox with that touch of turf, a fabulous nose swirling into dried fruit, and sweet tropical woods; a meaty, bundled, dense palate, very layered hints its tremendous length and one on-going final to be reckoned; #19225 of only 76732 bottles is one part of the concentration's equation, paving to its perfection. 100P |

1953 Château Mouton RothschildPauillac Red Bordeaux Blend more |
1/15/2020 - Mr. Ladurée Likes this wine: 99 pointsDark, mature core, slightest discoloration around the rim; from the start a sensational nose, bewildering sweetness, malty, yet red-berried, rosehip, hinting the unique MR chocolate-mint palate that eventually takes you a breath contemplating genious balance, erotic sweetness, plums, discretely present tannin that hold everything together at the right spot, making it a bottled dream; as if it was for a very long period of time after the devastating 56s frost, you'd be ever expecting anything like it; commemorating the 100. anniversary of the Rothschild family's purchase of former chateau Brane-Mouton. 99-100P |

1/15/2020 - Mr. Ladurée Likes this wine: 98 pointsDark orange, brick red, distinct light rim, muted coral red core; wonderful nose, lots of depth and noble woods, dried currants; still a dense and packed, almost meaty palate with harmonious Cabernet notes, dried olives, almonds, cigarbox and leather tones that is Pauillac supreme within Medoc; Consistently evolved into a mature Chambertin-esque long mouthfeel; impressive bottle #46921, legend status at hand. 97-99P |

1900 Château Mouton RothschildPauillac Red Bordeaux Blend more |
1/15/2020 - Mr. Ladurée Likes this wine: 100 pointsLS ullage ‘De Luze & Fils’ bottling, chimney brick red, mature cloudy colour, with light red core and distinct watery rim; incredibly ripe and sweet orange, citronade bouquet, mulberry, whiff of floor polish, forest path, and bewildering sweet accents of praliné chocolates, and sandalwood, delicate caramel, sheer undetectable oxidation notes, just a wonderful nose considering its age and specs; equally delicate palate, harmonious, no signs of disaccord, with persistent structure, leather tones, nuanced creaminess, typical tobacco notes, flattering acidity, and an amazing sweet, lasting Tempranillo like finish (+30s). In context of being probably ‘released’ in 1902 when Baron Philippe was born, its assemblage remaining a best guess today at 120 years of age, this simply deserves… unforgettable hall of fame. 100P |

1969 Jean-Pierre Guyon Mazis-ChambertinMazis-Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir more |
9/6/2019 - Mr. Ladurée Likes this wine: 94 pointsAlongside 1971 Clos des Lambrays; shiny, palish red, little discoloration, almost youthful in colour and taxed as a 1990. Toffee, burned rubber, butchers' meat notes, whiff of iron and roast coffee. Beguilling sweetness, delicate, juvinile, finesse feminine with that tad of acidity, yet lovely mouthfeel, and long, persisting finish. At 50 years of age, a role model to many, if they'd just manage achieving such standard nowadays. 93-95P |

9/6/2019 - Mr. Ladurée Likes this wine: 95 pointsAlongside 1969 Mazis-Chambertin (les fils d'Antonin Guyon); corroded capsule and crumbled cork, unflattering bottle specs, hence low expectations. Glossy, palish red, surprisingly little discoloration around the rim. Strawberries, raspberries, slight iron touch, in a blossoming, typical PN nose; Wonderfully ripe notes of candied red fruit, punchy, charming acidity and balanced weight with a lingering finish. Fairly stunning testimony and epitome of an advanced CdL that just keeps me coming back! WOTN. 95P |

1970 Hessische Staatsweingüter Kloster Eberbach Assmannshäuser Höllenberg Spätburgunder AusleseRheingau more |
5/19/2018 - Mr. Ladurée Likes this wine: 96 pointsfrom 375ml, rusty brick orange with distinct water rim; drawing slow, thick, glycerin windows in the glass. Striking "entre-deux-guerres" semillion nose, as of ripe Amontillado, toffee, sweet mocca, buttery caramel flavours of the soughtest after liquoreux's; on the palate most filigrane, wonderfully integrated sugar/tanin/acidity balance; purest Auslese style for the connaisseur, such elegance and refinement, puzzling, and hard to believe it's pinot noir. As for great Rieslings the freshness outweights, lots of Öchsle, vital acidity, low alc. (guess sub 9% as it only became mandatory in 1971 to flag on the label); decent length, on the classic side. One to meditate for hours with delight. Barrel #78, sold and released at auction. Years on hand. A lovely treat! (95-97P) |

1914 Moët & Chandon Champagne Brut ImpérialChampagne Blend more |
12/25/2017 - Mr. Ladurée Likes this wine: 95 pointsThe wire-cage (muselet) cracked to bits when torn apart and the cork gently slid out without any fizz, resembling stony wooden moor-oak. Cloudy amber colour, glowing at times, no more perlage but the pure, primary cuvée’s assemblage. High end sherry on the nose, albeit not maderised at all, whiff of honey and pineapple, walnuts and lardy, waxy bits with roast brioche, still intense. On the palate subtle sour lemon zest, black chocolate nuggets, lovely acidity and structure, decent weight, and remarkably complex with a spicy but fading finish. For if you like ‘tasting history’ this lifts one’s senses and spirit to new heights, in awe. Quelle émotion! (95P) |

2/13/2016 - Mr. Ladurée Likes this wine: 94 pointsBernard Noblet's first vintage; a solar vintage, perfect conditions, no rot; mint provenance; ruby red, dense core with only hints of discoloration around the rim; warm mocha nose, perfectly ready; powerful mouthfeel, rich and silky texture, long, persistent finish but lacking the fantasy of the '79; will only benefit from ageing; Drink or keep. 2/6/2016 - Mr. Ladurée Likes this wine: 94 pointsa good vintage, severe hail on 19 June. The Monopoles' damaged crop became 'Fine de Bourgogne'; made 'sur lies' without racking, manual bottling; deep mature colour, only the slightest discoloration around the rim. Attractive, fully mature nose, on the masculine side, quiet a frame, opulent mouthfeel but still exhibiting youthful freshness, with dry, crisp, persisting finish! Drink or keep. #6156 (94P) |

1941 Maison François Martenot Meursault Collection du Docteur BaroletChardonnay more |
2/6/2016 - Mr. Ladurée Likes this wine: 91 pointsas with most wartime or older bottles, provenance and storage are key, let alone for a white; respectable 3cm ulage; yellow gold, hint of green shiver, drawing remarkable legs in the glass; fairly fresh, clean and slightly oxydised but still rich, with ageing flavour of lemon peel evolving towards old straw. Past its best but considering it's wartime Chardonnay, this is as good as it gets! (91P) |

1935 Dr. Barolet Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux MalconsortsPinot Noir more |
2/6/2016 - Mr. Ladurée Likes this wine: 92 pointsone climat out of eight different '35s of Dr. Barolet's cellar; fairly deep, rusty colour again with that distinctive, translucide rim; on the nose dried herbs, spices yet surprisingly fruity, sweet, sound flavour with a smoky end taste, bit less complex and within an hour in the glass "un peu passé". Still remarkable! (92P) |

2/6/2016 - Mr. Ladurée Likes this wine: 93 pointsone climat out of eight different '35s of Dr. Barolet's cellar; fairly deep, rusty colour with a distinctive, translucide rim; on the nose mushrooms, underwood, and with time quiet a lovely pinot bouquet, still sweetish; remarkable mouthfeel, aromas of red berries, cassis, although a bit "atténué" but still complex, very elegant and surprisingly lengthy. Amazing tasting experience of an 80-ys old gentleman, now on its decline, but still teaching lessons! (93P) |

6/13/2015 - Mr. Ladurée Likes this wine: 100 pointsmise Grafé-Lecocq & Fils, mature red with dark centre and slight brick coloured rim; sublime nose, port sweetness, strawberries, swiss ricola candy; phantastic palate exhibiting dense, ripe berryfruit and silk like structure with scaffolding tanins that make this Cheval botteling an amazing tasting experience. No doubt, 100P! |

1874 Château Léoville PoyferréSt. Julien Red Bordeaux Blend more |
6/13/2015 - Mr. Ladurée Likes this wine: 99 pointsmature brick red, yet dark centre with lighter rim; eucalyptus candy, minty nose with a pleasant spicy, almost biting touch on the palate, lacking its former fruit slightly; still wonderfully powerful, impressive length, very elegant; another 100p for the pure privilege, what a flight!! |

1870 Château Latour Grand VinPauillac Red Bordeaux Blend more |
6/13/2015 - Mr. Ladurée Likes this wine: 100 pointsa mythical, 'pre'-phylloxera (1868-1895) vintage, demonstrating Latour's longevity and sheer immortality; dense brick red, almost glowing with light rim; on the nose iodine, seafruit, paper-paste glue; on the palate, however, a powerful exhibition of wallnuts, mocca and a hint of sourness that just adds the extra layer in addition to pepper spices followed by an impressive length!! 100P for the privilege, 99P for the taste - almost rude a score. |

6/13/2015 - Mr. Ladurée Likes this wine: 100 pointsamazing glowing red with virtually no ageing sign at the rim; subtle vanilla, ecalyptus and anisette nose, raw chocolat nugets; pure finesse, balanced berry fruits without excessive acidity on the palate; filigree yet impressive length; unbelievable and unforgettable tasting experience!! |

1994 Château LafleurPomerol Red Bordeaux Blend more |
9/19/2014 - Mr. Ladurée Likes this wine: 91 pointsopaque dark red, the kind of fresh vegetal nose at first, blossoming into wild berries; still remarcably tannic for its 20-ys but nevertheless juicy, with a hint of raspberries but lacking the legendary sweetness which is yet to materialise; undoubtly a massive wine and certainly a 94 worth following. 90-91+ |

1983 Château LafleurPomerol Red Bordeaux Blend more |
9/19/2014 - Mr. Ladurée Likes this wine: 95 pointsintense ruby red colour, at first cold chamomile tea in the nose, needs plenty of air before opening up to ripe fruit, yet spices; rather dry on the palate and leaves one guessing for the sweet part that eventually evolves subtly at the very last sip with layers of leather and tobaco; the kind of indestructible, patient Lafleur, why bother with overpriced 82s? 95+ |

1978 Château LafleurPomerol Red Bordeaux Blend more |
9/19/2014 - Mr. Ladurée Likes this wine: 96 pointsopaque and dense purple colour, drawing thick churchwindows in the glass; the greatest nose of all set of 7 vintages tasted, slight green pepper cabernet touch, plums, dark mushrooms, and spices; aromatic, opulent, meaty palate with perfect ongoing fruit/acidity balance; a long haul, powerful 78. 96+ |

1970 Château LafleurPomerol Red Bordeaux Blend more |
9/19/2014 - Mr. Ladurée Likes this wine: 99 pointsdense purple black colour; needed time to open up hinting its enormous character of a masculine Lafleur; finally a great bouquet, that whiff of tar, honey and ripe raspberry; on the palate flexing its muscles through truffles and subtle but present adstrigency, Latour style, let alone its phantastic lenght and abysal depth; to me dare I say close to perfection had I only some left! 98-100. |

1959 Château LafleurPomerol Red Bordeaux Blend more |
9/19/2014 - Mr. Ladurée Likes this wine: 97 pointsdense deep colour, blue reflexes with lighter ripe rim - back then 'coupage' was still allowed (Syrah?) - but as with all great Lafleur's an intense, powerful nose, plums, chocolate box and touch of honey, though less intense on the palate a stylish, classy Lafleur with a bespoke acidity and soft dryness dominating in the end, such as a vintage Port, less the exhuberant sweetness. 96-98 |

9/19/2014 - Mr. Ladurée Likes this wine: 94 pointsAfter almost 80-ys the cork of this memorable bottle felt like a railway ground-threshold; not the kind of wine you expect to talk to you from the moment you've pulled it; an impressive ruby red with lighter rim; on the nose cold potatoes, mushrooms, on the palate burnt caramel sweetness, spices and sweetbitter chocolate with a balanced dry finish; kept putting on weight with time and oxygen, revealing Lafleur's legendary ageing potential followed by humble contemplation... |
