12/25/2023 - shug14217 Likes this wine: 82 pointsLight cedar and fruit. Touch of furniture polish oak. Bright casiss and red berries. Not the fullest of body but nicely put together. Good till 2025 or so but not the concentration to lat much longer. |

7/9/2023 - shug14217 Likes this wine: 94 pointsWith terrific aromas of forest fruit, sous-bois and a touch of cedar, this is absolutely peak time to be drinking. A touch of very fine tannin, this is stunning, ethereal Pinot Noir. Chapeau! |

1/8/2023 - shug14217 Likes this wine: 90 pointsSubtle aromas of graphite, cassis with a mineral edge and the floral lift of blueberry. The palate does have tannins which are a tad dusty at this stage but it got better the longer it was in glass/decanter. Definitely needs food to lift it and something with a bit of fat or richness. I think this still has at least 3-5+ years life as the fruit is still fresh and it hasn’t developed many tertiary characteristics bar a little leather and forest floor. I gave it about 1-2 hours in decanter before serving and I suspect it would improve further with time should we have any left! |

10/16/2022 - shug14217 wrote: 90 pointsAfter 2 hours decanted, this was still a tad tight. After 4 hours, it had started to open up. Delicious ripe but still fresh cassis, not overripe. Classic Lafite elegance, tannins so refined but still very young. Stunning now but I’d like to try this again in a few years |

8/6/2022 - shug14217 wrote: 87 pointsFloral nose -pollen, lemon sherbet, saline with a touch of oyster shell. Reminiscent of Picpoul de Pinet with a touch of residual sugar for balance against the high acidity. More about the pineapple and melon notes -quite quaffable. Decent value and easy drinking. I don’t know that this will age but it’s inoffensive and nicely made. |

4/8/2022 - shug14217 wrote: 89 pointsRounded balance of citrus, green apple acidity but with a little struck match note on the nose that echoes Meursault. Some creamy and brioche notes with a hint of oak but still fresh green apple acidity and medium length. Very composed and drinkable without being too flabby with a nice structure and lemon zest finish. A little vanilla and coconut. Great with grilled sea bass and lemon. A touch of residual on the finish but lovely depth and complexity with a little more to go before it peaks. Drink now to 2024. |

3/27/2022 - shug14217 Likes this wine: 93 pointsPowerful nose of juicy ripe damson, cassis, eucalyptus and bell pepper. This is so voluptuous and seductive at this stage with a wonderful perfume giving it such lift. Still loads of fresh fruit and vibrant acidity going on, yet a tiny touch of baked spice and leather starting to come in. Layers of black pepper and blackberry set against fine-grained tannins and a cedary oak edge. This has another 6-8 years at least but is drinking very well now. Drink with slow roast beef. |

3/6/2022 - shug14217 Likes this wine: 89 pointsI’ve been pretty reticent to open this 2010 given how proud the tannins have been on many others I’ve tried. But, no, this had such a lovely balance. Lovely fresh berry fruit. Tannins fine and supple, not too dry, lovely spice and a touch of cédât and blackcurrant. At that lovely stage with some of the fruit left and a bit of tertiary meatiness. It opened up after 90mins in decanter and was spot on. Never the depth as some but impressive. I wouldn’t l ave this more than a few years more but certainly near or at its peak. |

1/21/2022 - shug14217 wrote: 92 pointsFROM MAGNUM: Sleek, dark fruit with lots of licorice spice and a savoury note. Mulberry, blackberry and a touch of cocoa and black olive. Really good now, but I'd decant for a good 2+ hours. This is wonderful now but I'm looking forward to see how it develops over the coming decade. |

11/28/2021 - shug14217 Likes this wine: 90 pointsWow. Precise and clean yet vibrant blackberry fruit. Lovely minerality and exquisite fine tannins. A touch of spice, graphite set against perfectly ripe fruit. This is still a touch young but definitely hitting its stride. Perfect with lamb. Drink 2021-26. Will have to see if I can get any more as this is a winner! |

11/21/2021 - shug14217 Likes this wine: 89 pointsBright bold ripe and fresh ripe raspberry and forest fruit. Tannins fine and ripe. A touch of dryness shows there’s plenty of life in this yet. Will do another 5 years or so. Lovely spicy finish and it’s obviously punchy alcohol. Decent touch of vanilla on the finish. Very quaffable and no need to decant. |

10/10/2021 - shug14217 Likes this wine: 94 pointsLush, ripe but still very fresh red berry fruit with lots of red cherry, loganberry and blackberry fruit. Acidity remains very fresh so this still has plenty of life in it. Decanted for 2hours before drinking. Tannins fine-grained and still slightly over the fruit. But when with red meat, it absolutely sings! Drink 2021-25 or longer |

9/16/2021 - shug14217 Likes this wine: 90 pointsTasted from MAGNUM (open for 48hrs) Moved to the spice-end of Syrah, with a nose that is ethereal and perfumed with notes of licorice, toasted wheat grain, and that wonderfully sweet farmyard hayloft, crossed with garrigue herbs, rosemary, pine and tapenade. Fruit there, but more baked and fruitcakey than fleshy. |

8/30/2021 - shug14217 Likes this wine: 91 pointsIncredible perfume and floral lift on the nose. Still young and with a wonderful vibrancy. Great herb and spice notes alongside red cherry and plum fruit. Medium in body and in weight with lovely fresh acidity and fruit which comes in exactly ripe without being over extracted. Pure and clean in style so incredible with lamb. I'd give this another 5 years in bottle easily, but one which will reward pleasure immeasurably. |

8/30/2021 - shug14217 Likes this wine: 88 pointsDeep roasted hazelnut colour in glass. Lovely complexity - barley sugar, apricot and a hint of lemon marmelade, ginger spice. Not lusciously sweet and length definitely shorter than expected. While it may've been this bottle, I suspect this isn't a vintage for the longer term, but perfectly lovely for the next few years. |

3/30/2021 - shug14217 Likes this wine: 92 pointsCassis and cigar box. A touch of menthol and jellied red fruits. Peppery, tannins fine and well grooved. Plush fruit and spice. Still got lovely acidity and tannins so drink 2021-2026 |

3/25/2021 - shug14217 Likes this wine: 94 pointsStill replete with bright blackberry and damson fruit, graphite edge, polished oak notes, licorice, a touch of eucalyptus and spice, pencil shavings and plenty of acidity and tannins. Slightly lean when first opened but slowly evolving in decanter. After 4 hours, tannins slightly grippy but lovely and fine-grained. Some earthiness, a touch of leather and savoury, meaty edge. I think this has still got plenty of life in it and would be happy to try it in 5-10 years time. More rounded and plush than the 2003 |
