Mushroom and leather heavy but has this fresh mint and green pepper nose. Classic Bordeaux. This is so damn good. So complex in the nose. Palate is open and med + tannin and med acid. Best Bordeaux of 2022 so far. Destroying the first growths this year.

Raisin on the nose. Tastes like classic old zin but maybe too long gone. Slightly sharp on the nose. Clear and bronze on the rim. Lacking structure but lots of fruit on the palate.

Bottle 3/12. Tasting one per year. By far the best bottle of 2015. Recently tasted with Roberto a few weeks back in Radda and had the current release. The color is stunning - translucent ruby, with no rim variation. The nose is extraordinarily complex with notes of roasted coffee, balsamic vinegar, sour cherry, black peppers, and a subtle bouquet of flowers. Savory on the palate with medium + acid and medium sandy tannins along the gums. This wine will continue to age beautifully. Consumed with pan-roasted chicken, bolognese, and a salad.

Wow. Gorgeous wine. Incredibly floral. Ripe cassis. Integrated oak. There is a lot of dried fruit and dried flowers. The cab franc really shines here. Very complex.

Mouth coating and viscous. Acid med + and tannin med +. Finish is 90sec+. 94

A beautiful purple color. Lots of ripe fruit explodes from the glass. Initially muted but transformed within 20 minutes in the glass. Decanted for 9ish hours. Slightly Smokey with charred meats. Bay leaf and rosemary. There is a ripeness to this wine that is so integrated. The palate is juicy with med + tannin and med acid. I would love to see this wine in another 10 years. However, it is drinking beautiful in its current state.

Decanted for 10 hours. Started to show signs of life around 8 hours but still not giving all it has to offer. Beautiful brickish translucent color. Slightly more extracted than others. Quite classic leather and rose petal nose but there is a linear aspect of wet rock, maybe limestone, that shines through. More reserved than I would expect. However, I think this wine just needs loads and loads of air to open up (or more time in the bottle, of course). A little hint of cherry fun dip. The palate is absolutely explosive. Tannins are laser-focused on the tongue. 60+ seconds finish. Bitter chocolate remains on the palate. Tannins high and acid high.

I personally find that at its current state, the nose is a bit lackluster while the palate is incredibly interesting and quite robust. Potentially, with time, this nose may become less reserved. Drinking Barolo without at least 10 years of age is always a risk. Too bad this is my only bottle.

Tasted against a few other wines. Best of the bunch. This wine offers a lot of perfume on the nose. Quite pronounced dark berries with signs of age (tastes much much older than it is). chocolate and leather. med + tannin. Drinking well.

Complex. Showing its age but with grace. Cream, flowers, elegant. The fruit has dropped off considerably to layers and layers of tertiary notes. Incredible depth of flavor. Coats the mouth to create an incredible textural experience. Hints of spice and wet rock. Bravo.

Glorious and vibrant. Not quite as complex and elegant as the Chambertin 37. Slightly woody with a long finish. Lighter in color than the others in the lineup. Holding up nicely.

Absolutely fantastic wine. fresh cream, cherries, fresh and alive. Notes of roasted nuts. The structure is well integrated with medium tannins and med + acid that coats the mouth. Beautiful.

Really odd wine. Smells like Pinot and looks like Pinot but the palate is off putting. Quite bitter and acidic and simply not balanced. I love the idea of trying to create an approachable young wine but this just didn’t work for me. 78 points.

Lost my tasting notes for this wine. However, I remember it being extremely lush on the nose with notes of plus and blueberry. Round fruit on the palate with a long finish of oak. Tannins still present but integrated. Much better than the prior 1990 I had a few months ago.

Unfiltered. Cloudy in the glass but without sediment (I love this). Reminds me of a much darker version of Whitcraft, in both the appearance and nose. Explosive sour cherry. Linear fruit. Cola, strawberry. Classic PN character from California. Med + acid, med - tannin. The palate has lots of fruit and the finish is wood and smoke. Very long finish. Had with salmon, broccoli, and avocado toast.

I have had this producer's syrah and I disliked it. Extremely surprised by this effort and would by again and will likely age gracefully for the next 10 years.

Explosive red and black fruit dominates this wine. Wrapped in green bell pepper. Maybe even a hint of menthol. Tobacco smoke. Mouth coating with fresh cream and raspberries. A serious wine but lacking some complexity. Tannins medium and acid medium. Tanning on top of tongue and roof of mouth. Definitely buy again at $20. Absolutely delicious.

Tasting on the second day. Opening up into a more perfumed nose. However, it is still extremely muted. Smells of artificial blueberry candy. Maybe some raspberry as well. A distinct integration of smoke, cream, leather, and wood. I am missing out on the classic chianti nose. Yet, the sandy tannins are in the classic distribution. Med+ acid, med tannin. Probably wouldn't buy it again but it isn't the worst QPR at $13. Would be serviceable to a large group. 82.

This wine changed considerably over the course of the tasting. Initially, there was an absolutely intense flavor of crushed pomegranate that transitioned to pomegranate juice. The wine eventually transitioned to an elegant balance of fruit including sour cherry. It is deep and luscious offering globs of fruit and earth. It just gives, and gives, and gives. I far prefer this wine after it sits in the glass for a while. It becomes more high-toned and elegant. The structure is med + tannin and med acid. Almost a shame to drink at this point. Can almost guarantee this will turn into a fantastic wine in about 30 years, at least. 92 points. Decanted 10 hours.

Showing jammy fruit that initially just tasted yummy, almost like candied fruit. Raspberry cream pie, maybe even some elements of fermented cream. Integrated oak. Almost tastes like there is RS which assuredly there is not. Dried roses. acid med+, tannin med -. Honestly, I thought this wine was pinot noir from st. Rita hills. It has this PN character. However, sure enough, it is Nebbiolo!! On reinspection, the tannins do come through strong enough to pursue piedmont as an origin.

After an hour of evolving in the glass, this wine just kept giving beautiful notes of cherry and roses. Just explosive on the nose. Absolutely the wine of the night. Can't wait to see what happens over the years. 93 points! high praise.

Blind tasting on 02.12.22

Elegant af. Thin on the palate with high acid and I don't mean this in a negative way. Despite the texture, there is an incredible concentration of blue fruit that travels across the mid-palate. There is a beautiful integration of oak in this wine. Lots of baking spices. Notes of blueberry and strawberry cream on the nose. Some leather is coming through as well. After an hour in the glass, dark chocolate-covered cherries come out which is peculiar. Med + tannin travels in a circle around the gums, reminiscent of merlot in location but Sangiovese in texture. Short finish. I called this wine Brunello due to cherries and leather notes. However, it is Spain! Really a treat to taste. 91 points!

There is a note of cheap tasting wood. Not sure what the oak treatment was here. Absolute searing acidity to the point where it is offputting due to the imbalance. However, this wine did pair well with seared trout and chimichurri. I would not recommend buying more but it was a nice drinking experience. Decanted 4 hours. 85

Following day: Relatively astringent and bitter with not much to offer. Honestly, quite disappointing.

Quite an impressive wine. An electric purple swirls in the glass. This wine offers gobs of dark fruits wrapped in subtle smoke. The oak treatment shines here as it is beautifully integrated into the fruit. Spices like cinnamon and nutmeg balance a fire-charred meat note. Honestly, highly reminiscent of a syrah but has the malbec soul and acid structure. Definitely drink again. Massive enjoyment factor. Considering holding other bottle for 5-10 years. 89!

best on the third day! Up to 91 points. incredible concentration and purity of fruit. Buy more and cellar.
