2011 Linne Calodo NemesisPaso Robles Syrah Blend, Syrah more |
4/7/2017 - puppetclause wrote: NRI little light for a Linne Calodo, and definitely had some flaws with a bit of carbonation that dissipated in the decanter. An interesting lighter Syrah approach while still unmistakably central coast. All the Paso big berry flavors were present and it masked the alcohol fairly well. Went really well with steak but honestly it was our 2nd bottle at lunch on a work day and the sheer joy of going 2 deep and then heading back to work masked the flaws and most likely bad QPR that this bottle provided. I'll hold my other one out of curiosity to see where it goes but without much hope. |

2/16/2016 - puppetclause wrote: NRDecanted 2 hours then slow o'd another 2. Big plush nose of cranberry, strawberry, plum, raisins, cherries and fresh herbs. Pallate follows, this was singing with a melange of stewed red fruits, pencil lead, herbs, baking spices. A hit with the crowd, beat an 05 Betz chapitre 3 for WOTN. |

2/16/2016 - puppetclause wrote: NRDecanted an hour, then off to dinner. Subtle funk, plum, violets on the nose. Tasted of stable hay, barnyard, mushrooms, rust, a bit tannic still. Stewed dark fruits lurking in the background. Opened up over a few hours taking on weight and complexity, last glass was the best. |

9/7/2015 - puppetclause wrote: NRSmooth and balanced, but still a lot of paso fruit. A bit of heat to it with the high avb, but not super distracting. About as good as it's going to be I think, the finish isn't super long but it paired well with japanese bbq (i.e. meat). Plan on drinking down my stores of Justin over the next couple of years. |

6/12/2015 - puppetclause wrote: 88 pointsFrom memory. Started out astringent but never really shook it. Had some unripe strawberry and blackberry with black tea. Possibly flawed, possibly over the hill? Even after 2 hours it was still disjointed and unfocused. wasn't loving this. My wife drained 95% of the bottle. |

6/12/2015 - puppetclause Likes this wine: 92 pointsStarted out a bit fruit forward but settled into more cranberry/rhubarb with sage and solid minerality, almost chalky. strawberry compote with dried herbs on the finish. Never lost it's new world charm but the cooler vintage shines through. Wish I'd sat on this for 5 more years. |

8/30/2014 - puppetclause wrote: 92 pointsStill very much alive and kicking. Good concentration with a cherry medley, bing and black. briar fruits, Blueberry sauce and sweet tobacco. The big flaw was the alcohol, it ran hot from first sip to last. Chocolatey sweet cherry finish as usual from the reserve. Ill hold my other one fo 4-5 years just to see where it goes. |

8/3/2014 - puppetclause wrote: NRThis bottle had a bad fill, and was opened more for the novelty than any expectation of being great. Double decanting may have been the biggest flaw as the nost on opening was bright and interesting, but by the time it was drank maybe an hour later it was declining and fast. |
