2/27/2018 - Mossrose wrote: 93 pointsAt 12 years old, a delightful Australian Grenache from McLaren Vale that has aged impressively well. Opaque with no brown tone. Lovely aromas of red raspberry and smoked bacon. The sip comes in silky smooth and deeply flavored, and features refreshing acidity and ample, well integrated tannin without being grippy or astringent. Overall, a lovely combination of Australian richness with French structure. Far exceeds my expectation about how poorly balanced and ageworthy Australian Grenache can be, here strikingly competitive with Rhone Valley Grenache. |

12/14/2023 - andrewfowler Likes this wine: 90 pointsHibiscus, cherry, raspberry, mineral/graphite, and underlying green notes – Chinese bitter gourd, maybe, definitely some pine needle. Medium body with a killer mouthfeel, velvet AF, with some plumier and blueberrier notes and juicy acidity coming out on the palate. Beautiful character, very unique, and absolutely one for you Cab Franc fanboys (can we make matching T-shirts?). |

Rich honeysuckle nose calling me in to taste its flavours. Light citrus but more rich yellow peach coming through. Had with some chicken and mushroom risotto. |

Thick, lusciously sweet, black fruits, liquorice, toffee made with Muscovado sugar, raisins, slight prunes, plenty of alcohol warmth on the finish. It's all quite shouty, alcohol a little too high for what's going on. |

11/11/2022 - Sourdough Does not like this wine: 83 pointsI rarely find Texas Syrah appealling and sadly this fails to break the pattern. While Rae's wines are usually nuanced and appealing, this strikes me as an unresolved, disjoint mess. Perhaps more age will help, but for now thus wine simply does not work for me. Onthe positive side, there are no glaring flaws, just a flavor profile that I find unappealing. With time and air it may come out better but??? |
