  • 2016 Celler Mas La Mola Priorat L'Expressió del Priorat

Appearance: The wine is Clear with a Deep Ruby colour.
Nose:The nose is Clean and Developing, showing Medium(+) intensity primary aromas of red cherry, black (morello or sour) cherry and secondary aromas of smoke, vanilla, cream.Ingrid was picking up sour cherries and vanilla cream - Black Forest Gateau in a glass
Palate:The wine is Dry in the mouth with a Medium(+) level of acidity. It has Medium(+) Green/Stalky tannins and a High Level of alcohol (15%). It has Full body and Medium(+) intensity primary flavours of red cherry, black (morello or sour) cherry and secondary flavours of smoke, vanilla, cream. The finish is Medium(+).
Conclusion:This is a good quality wine with good concentration and length with some complexity. The tannins stick out a bit and needs time to soften and integrate.

  • 2017 Vetus Rueda Flor de Vetus

Appearance:The wine is Clear with a Pale Lemon colour.
Nose:The nose is Clean and Developing, showing Medium(+) intensity primary aromas of lemon, lime, peach and apricot. Ingrid was picking up mainly apricot.
Palate:The wine is Dry in the mouth with a Medium(+) level of acidity. It has a Medium Level of alcohol (12.5%). It has Medium body and Medium(+) intensity primary flavours of lemon, lime, peach and apricot. The finish is Medium(+)
Conclusion:This is medium bodied wine with citrus and stone fruit profile. The aromas are quite pronounced but no real secondary or tertiary character. It is a relatively simple wine for immediate drinking and is unlikely to improve with further ageing. It lacks complexity and length to be anymore than a good wine.

  • 2016 Stein St. Aldegunder Palmberg-Terrassen Riesling Spätlese feinherb

Appearance:The wine is Clear with a Pale lemon colour.
Nose:The nose is Clean and Developing, showing Medium intensity primary aromas of lemon, lime; some stone fruit(peach) and some tropical fruit(not sure here and a bit too rushed). It also has a distinct herbal note of (something I could not place) It has some secondary mineral character - flint.
Palate:The wine is Off-Dry in the mouth with a High level of acidity. It has a Medium Level of alcohol (13%). It has Medium(+) body and Medium(+) intensity primary flavours of lemon, lime; some stone fruit(peach) and some tropical fruit(not sure here and a bit too rushed). It also has a distinct herbal note of (something I could not place) It has some secondary mineral character - flint. The finish is Medium(+)
Conclusion:This is an outstanding quality wine. This wine has some interesting secondary character in addition some quite complex primary fruit and herbal character. The wine has the structure to allow some ageing and for the wine to develop interesting tertiary character. It has good intensity of aroma/flavour and a good balance between fruit, acidity and alcohol with none of these components sticking out. The wine has a good long finish.
Can Drink Now but has Potential for Aging. This has the structure for ageing to allow the wine to develop some tertiary character.
