If the wine was more akin to a standard p.g., with the more traditional white color, would I still offer this note? Ahh, the beauty of wine. Melon, tropical note and acidity and I again offer the labeled alcohol of 12.3%. Good again. |

I attended a trade event recently and tasted a # of Pinot Gris (loved the new one from King Estate in Oregon as well as the Byron) so was happy to buy a bottle of this Ancien. I admit, I'm not a white wine drinker but Pinot Gris grabs me. The aromatics lift out of the glass and this one does, as well. I smell honey, peach pit and lime, as well as some brown spice of some kind. The wine is medium to full body with a nice viscosity and weight. The some same lemony/peach notes are in the mouth with some nice spicyness to the finish. Even more, this is another wine that I have discovered that goes easy on the oak, as I can't say I find a lot lurking here and the alcohol at 14% is nicely integrated. Overall, a nice wine and it has the Mrs. Murray seal of approval. |
