12/25/2014 - MemorialWineFan wrote: 90 pointsin a good place right now. My buddy brought one over so I wanted to keep it going for Christmas Day. We drank two bottles. Good fruit and taste. Ready for the full Pahlmeyers but we got those aging so know the Jaysons are drinking nice based on tonight. |

2000 Krug Champagne Clos du MesnilChardonnay more |
12/24/2014 - MemorialWineFan wrote: 94 pointsHad at Krug tasting along with the 2003 Clos du Mesnil and a 2003 Vintage. This one had a distinct flavor and aroma that was different that the blended Grand Cuvee or the vintage. The single vineyard comes out in this and was very nice and different than most champagnes. |

2008 Caymus Cabernet SauvignonNapa Valley more |
12/22/2014 - MemorialWineFan wrote: 89 pointsIt's been about a year since the last bottle I drank of the 2008 Caymus. The last bottle was a magnum. This 750ml has changed from the sugary love to more of an less fruity/sugary cabernet. My wife commented that she did not care for it whereas this was her favorite cab the last few years. Depending on how you like your Caymus keep that in mind for the ones you are holding. The fruit is still there thought not overpowering as is when they are young. The wine was very smooth and paired nicely with a filet mignon, potato and brussell sprouts. |

2010 Ken Wright Pinot Noir Freedom Hill VineyardWillamette Valley more |
12/14/2014 - MemorialWineFan Likes this wine: 90 pointsI have to disagree with some of the other tasting notes. The bottle had great acidity and some complexity to the palate. It was light in color making us fear that it was very thin. On the contrary it had good body and weight. The structure was nice and firm with a solid background of tannins. If someone is looking for a fruit bomb than this is not the bottle for you. It was shared among three serious wine drinkers and we all enjoyed it. |

2009 Bodegas Muga Rioja Selección EspecialTempranillo Blend, Tempranillo more |
12/12/2014 - MemorialWineFan wrote: 88 pointsVery fruit forward right now. Was a bit surprised how subtler the flavors were with other Riojas often packing a burst of flavors in each glass and on the nose. I would give this one more time in the bottle. I plan to wait a few more years before I open another one. |

12/2/2014 - MemorialWineFan Likes this wine: 91 pointsVery good bottle. Better than the one two days ago. This wine is in a great place now. Very smooth, and yet still some fruit with a touch of oak on the finish. It's in a good spot right now. |

2008 Alain Hudelot-Noëllat Chambolle-MusignyPinot Noir more |
11/29/2014 - MemorialWineFan Likes this wine: 90 pointsGreat acidity and minerality. Decanted over four hours. It's approachable, but decant it several hours before hand. I plan on holding my others for another three years or so and then trying again. |

11/28/2014 - MemorialWineFan wrote: flawedOpened the bottle and let it breathe a few hours. First nose was alcohol. Wine was disjointed. The fruit had faded and it was not the sugary & fruity taste of other bottles. It was disjointed. Perhaps it's shut down now or a bad bottle. Do you find this review helpful? 2010 Domaine Bertagna Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Les Dames HuguettesPinot Noir more |
11/11/2014 - MemorialWineFan wrote: 88 pointsHad this bottle while traveling on business. I would recommend a 1 hour decant. From previous notes it did start thin, but with time it rounded out. There are some good flavors, but you have to give the wine time to open up. Very easy drinking wine. Could use another 1-2 years in the cellar. |

2010 EnRoute Pinot Noir Les PommiersRussian River Valley more |
11/4/2014 - MemorialWineFan wrote: 84 pointsWine was good and clean no doubt. My issue is why the winemaker is not making a stand and developing a unique flavor palate to the wine. The wine did not have a taste or finish one way or the other. I would expect from Far Niente more of an effort in make a distinctive wine that when tasting makes you go "aha!". Based on the QPR I can't see myself adding any more bottles of the wine. There are some much more impactful pinots in that price range. |

2008 Von Strasser Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountainmore |
10/27/2014 - MemorialWineFan Likes this wine: 89 pointsI concur with the last review. Not sure what all the bad reviews are about. Probably from drinking this wine too early. I have to be honest. I have been looking at this bottle for several years and asking myself, "what was I thinking when I bought it." I was surprised the the wine is drinking wonderfully right now. It's not too tannic nor is it over-oaked. Should be good for several more years. Enjoy. |

2010 Walt Pinot Noir Blue JayAnderson Valley more |
10/20/2014 - MemorialWineFan Likes this wine: 89 pointsThis wine needs four years to come into it's own. Much better developed than two years ago. Previously, I had stated that I would not get any more Walt, but that judgment was premature based on how it's drinking a few years later. |

9/20/2014 - MemorialWineFan Likes this wine: 90 pointsHad previously not liked it. Now it's drinking very well after four years in the bottle. Very good nose that should continue to develop. I may rethink about grabbing a few Walt's for the future. |
