8/3/2023 - Outplaying Likes this wine: NRI liked this and thought it had more acid and energy than the last time I had it. Classic Sauternes flavors with a little bit of spice. Nice bottle. |

6/4/2023 - Outplaying Likes this wine: NRAagrawal’s note in April describes this well. I enjoyed this quite a bit, and it was my favorite wine of the evening. Youthful for its age, and not showing any over ripeness from the vintage. Slight herbaceous notes, but not objectionable, and what you might expect from this producer. I’d be curious to see how this continues to evolve over the next 10 years or so. |

6/7/2018 - Outplaying wrote: NRA few Spanish wines at Eric's: These wines are interesting, but not something I want to drink often. Oxidized, sherry like flavors. Very dry. This wine demands food, and drank best last night with fatty courses, cheese, and a simple salad with a citrus and olive oil dressing. |

5/19/2018 - Outplaying Does not like this wine: NRI found this bottle disappointing. The alcohol stood out a little and the wine was unbalanced. It actually seemed a little light on fruit and body to carry the alcohol. Ann said it seemed fortified. The 99 Whitehall Lane Cabernet we drank along with this was much better balanced and more enjoyable. |

5/3/2018 - Outplaying wrote: NRWe had this along with the 2013 and 2009. The hot vintage shows here, but I think the wine is pretty good, considering that. Dark fruits, brooding, but not raisiny. Bigger, heavier but still retains enough acidity to keep it from being flabby. Dark soil tones, tar, licorice and tobacco notes. Comes across slightly sweet in comparison to the others. |

11/19/2014 - Outplaying wrote: NRPlaying cards with Ken and Kelli (Our house, Kennett square, PA): Tasted double blind. Decanted for about an hour. Slight bricking color. On the nose some mushroom, leather, slight mint and eucalyptus. On the palate, the wine is soft and silky with medium acid with quite a bit of secondary notes. There is still a fair amount of fruit in the wine. With time a little more tannin emerges and the wine gains some sweetness. My first thought was a super tuscan but I didn't think it had enough acid to be Italian. Then thought Bordeaux or CA Bordeaux blend. Guessed a 10-15 year old California Bordeaux blend due to the slightly lower acid/higher fruit profile and the eucalyptus. I enjoyed this and it was my favorite red of the night. |

11/17/2014 - Outplaying wrote: NRDinner with a few Berserkers (Will, Philadephia, PA): On the nose, mint and black licorice notes. Loads of dark fruit, mint shadings, fine tannins and a dry finish. Quite a bit of fruit and structure here still. This seemed pretty big, ripe and young compared to the other wines. No need to hurry with these. |

2/2/2014 - Outplaying wrote: NRWine with Friends (Our house, Kennett square, PA): A modern, fruity brunello showing black cherry, a little licorice, and old world acidity. A little simple and boring compared to the 2003 Fornacina BdM that followed. This wasn't recognizable as a Brunello and showed no sense of place. Modern producer and the warm vintage shows. |

2/20/2013 - Outplaying wrote: NRKen and Kelly over for dinner/spades V (Our house, Kennett square, PA): After the Napanook, this was a little disappointing. More subdued nose, less complex. The alcohol was more in balance, but this was still all about the fruit without much in secondary flavors. Mostly black and blue fruits, good acidity and tannins. There is good fruit, acid and tannin so maybe it will gain complexity with more time but I'm not sure. |
