Dark, opaque core with a violet rim. Gave this around 30 minutes of air before serving. The aromatics are filled with beautiful floral notes & blackberries. Full bodied, highly concentrated. Dark fruited without any of the roasted/stewed character associated with 2003. Silky mouthfeel, classy wine. Some bright, lighter notes emerge on the mid palate. Great complexity, but the finish is a little short.

Inky garnet color. Complex nose of crème de cassis, black pepper, tar and licorice. Not as expressive on the palate, but a nice acidity underpins flavors of tobacco leaf, ripe dark berries, leather and spice. There is too much oak which is not integrated enough and overwhelms the finish a bit, but the fruit flavors really linger. My first Hermitage is impressive!

Vintage really shows here. Over ripe and porty. I would never guess Syrah if I tasted this blind.

Just too ripe for me. I just couldn't get past the ripe roasted sweet fruit nose, like a a glass of Apothic with a hundred dead fruit flies in it.
