11/9/2010 - oldwines wrote: 88 pointsI found some old written tasting notes from my first trip to Piemonte in 2010… Tasted at the winery. 13.5% ABV. No oak aging. Fresh, dry and tannic, it seems. Expected a bit more fruit. In general I am not a huge Dolcetto fan. |

12/7/2014 - ddisler wrote: 86 pointsVery floral nose, primarily rose. Initially very vegetal on the palate with more of the floral flavors and some slight cherry coming through. Rather biting dryness and acidity on the finish. Typical for dolcetto, just a little aggressive for my taste. |

7/1/2014 - Davyd Chong Does not like this wine: 78 pointsPopped this during dinner at my parent's place. On the nose, muted, berries, and whiffs of wet newspaper. On the palate, sour grapes, mostly red fruits, some dark cherries, bittersweet finish (stemmy?), and also an unpalatable meaty note (dried beef?) on the finish. A straightforward wine. Nothing great. 10/8/2013 - SexyEpicurean wrote: 89 pointsDoesn't have quite the rustic edge or earth/funk character I usually get from Dolcetto, but I really enjoyed it. The acidity is good, it is more of a medium than light weight. The fruit is compelling and tasty a blackberry/bramble with violet floral. Great with Italian tomato-sauce based food. I would buy again. |

6/19/2013 - Paul S wrote: 87 pointsPiedmont 2013, Day 3 - Visit to Giuseppe Cortese (Rabajà, Babaresco, Piedmont, Italy): Vinified and aged in stainless steel like the Langhe Chardonnay that we started with, this was clearly meant as an easy-drinking wine. The nose was really perfumed and aromatic nose, wafting out the glass in sweet drifts of violets, bright cherry, almost maraschino aromas, with a little trail of smoke running behind. The palate was very simple, very easy-going, with a spicy, minerally attack opening up into a midpalate that was completely dominated by sweet cherries and berries riding along some very soft tannins. The short finish ended in a touch of bittersweet herbs. This was pretty well-balanced, nicely pure, but ultimately very simple. A decent quaffer perhaps, but that was just about it. |

A great food wine that went pretty well with Moroccan spiced lamb/meatballs. Not a wine I'd buy to sip on its own, but damn I wish I would have bought more to go along with pasta, pizza, or lamb dishes. |

5/16/2009 - linserge wrote: NRWhat happened?! I think I goofed by drinking tihs too cold, and just-opened without a few hours to air. Maybe I should've used the "nice glasses," too. In any case, it was much tighter than the last bottle, mostly acid and tannin without much fruit to match, and it was a poor compliment to the spicy-chutney pizza. |
