Creamier than the 1989 this is served with, some cinders and tobacco leaf complement the damson fruit core. There is a pepperiness here and the tannins are fully resolved. With air there is some bresaola, a few drops of Grenadine syrup. Some tomato flesh and hints of Turkish delight. Great stuff.

Pretty decent. I don't know if it is worth the price, but it is an enjoyable Aussie Cab with a good fruit-to-acid ratio. Tannins are there and noticeable and pleasant. I had a 2017 not too long ago, and it was better than this, and the QPR for it was pretty decent. Just not this one.

This was the wine with the highest alcohol (a whopping 14%), the highest extraction and the only one that felt like it was made in a factory. Whole-bunch fermentation + 12 months aging in wood and amphora. Deep ruby in the glass. Ripe nose of blackcurrant, sloshes of plum and blackberry, just tiny hints of black pepper. Full-bodied with ripe tannins and moderate acidity. Rather short finish. Not a remarkable wine in any sense.

Fully mature, there is a touch of hibiscus and cigar box on the nose. Palate is enveloping and sensual with spice and meat juices. With air some rhubarb coulis and the faintest hint of Macadamia. Yummy

High sandy tannins & high fresh acidity.
Moderate + fruit intensity of ripe red cherry intermixed with savory spice and earth. Alcohol seems a touch out of balance.

Simple yet nice expression of Sangiovese and entry level Brunello di Montalcino.

St. Julien Red Bordeaux Blend more

5/8/2024 - Vinumming & Ahhing Likes this wine: 94 points

Very classical Las Cases poise here, nose has beautiful blue fruits with cassis and blackcurrant leaf too. Tannins here also need some time although the decant has helped it to charm even early in its drinking window. There are hints of grated dark chocolate and blueberry coulis as well as a few Biscoff crumbs. Fabulous wine. Wish this had not been a singleton!

This is a cheap wine from WSJ Wine. It's not that good. I would give it to a friend who cannot tell the difference between Chappellet Pritchard Hill and Yellow Tail Cab.

5/9/2024 - _water.into.wine_ Likes this wine: 92 points

These wines have a lot of bottle variation, so mine seems like a totally different wine compared to others!

First of all, super volatile. The cork had popped up and broken the wax capsule. Inside was a very fizzy wine due to lack of SO2. Exceptionally pale, basically like a sparkling rose.

All that aside, what a lovely wine! Super fresh and interesting - I just love this maker.

Nose starts with red fruits, hints of smoke, some resting steak / meat juices. With air lovely hints of pungent summer greenhouse tomato leaves. Palate is youthful, tannins 95% resolved but not fully there. Some cedar too and with air some fully ripe plum fruit and a little cinnamon syrup. Great stuff.

2015 Lucien Le Moine Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chênes

5/7/2024 - Musigny1955 Likes this wine: 91 points

Tasted with monthly Winos group, blind. Perfect fill and sound cork. Big, huge, not remotely ready to drink. Young, lovely red fruits, layers and layers. Ripe, recent vintage, maybe best wine of the flight in the long run. Got 91 from me for current drinking but this could be a 93-94 point wine in the future. After being revealed: a 2015 fit the profile, and in retrospect this wine would have benefitted from a 3 hour decant. Held up beautifully overnight and a glass the next day was better. Not currently a lacy, delicate, aromatics over fruit style of Volnay! This will be excellent.

Received 3 of 6 first place votes in flight with 1997 Maurice Ecard SLB Narbatons, 2010 Jadot Beaune Ursules, 1998 Gouges NSG Vaucrains, and 2015 Le Moine Volnay Clos des Chenes. Wines were quite different but pretty much at the same level from a points awarded by me perspective. I voted for current pleasure in drinking and not future potential. The 1997 Ecard and the 2015 Le Moine both got 3 first place votes, and the Ecard 1 second place vote to just edge the Clos des Chenes.

5/9/2024 - Reinbothe Does not like this wine: 89 points

My second try with Brezza Cannubi, and another disappointment. It’s weak and slightly cooked, less than the 2011 vintage that I did not like at all, but considering the fantastic 2016 in Barolo, this is the only Barolo I have not liked from that vintage. It improves on day 2 it has to be said, but I am now definitely not giving this wine or producer a third chance any time soon 😅

5/9/2024 - Musigny1955 Likes this wine: 91 points

Tasted blind at monthly Winos tasting. Purchased on release, 1 of 3 left, no ullage, sound cork. Big, rich wine, not yet ready! Of the wines in this flight, most intense, most tannins, not yet resolved. Mossy. Grand Cru completeness if not GC pleasure or depth of fruit. Dark dark cherries, earthy, fruit is a big sauvage, and then lots of tannins. Man, those big 1998 tannins and the wine-making style of Gouges ... could use another 10 years.

Received 2 of 6 second place votes in flight with 1997 Maurice Ecard SLB Narbatons, 2010 Jadot Beaune Ursules, 1998 Gouges NSG Vaucrains, and 2015 Le Moine Volnay Clos des Chenes. Biodynamic farming. In the winery a combo of whole bunch and destemmed grapes + some carbonic maceration. Definitely a good thing because this Pineau d’Aunis comes off as a rather light and easy drop. Fun, fresh and characterful with some VA at the beginning, but this blows off pretty quickly. The finish is dry, long and crunchy with nuanced flavors of tart redcurrant and cranberry, light leafy notes, a little bit of perfumed floral character and a sanguine hint of iron.

Nothing suggesting though i should disown my previous assessment. Very yeasty, opulent fruit and as good a palate presence for a Champagme as I have had. Meunier goodness. One of my reference Champagnes.
