Fragrant nose of spicy, flowery red fruits! Still a touch young at this point, the palate is pure, with the right amount of freshness and acidity.

Random wines tasted during service (Oinoscent): Tasted 1hr later, no decant
The wine shows pale red color.
In the nose, the wine shows fully developed profile. Its earthy, with dried fruit, green bell pepper notes right in the middle, red currant, thin spice frame, almond, a few bitter stalky notes.
In the palate, the wine shows medium body, dissolved tannins, earthy, thin oak frame, nutty, a touch warm, a few balsamic notes, medium body and finish.
A Bordeaux from the 00s ageing in such a typical manner !

Rich and dense on the palate, nose of some strong dark leathery fruits, rather dark in colour!

Tobacco and forest floor on the nose. Some dark fruit and baking spice with leather, cedar box flavors. Very good after a 2 hour decant. If I had any more bottles I would drink them soon. Probably slightly on the way down. Still very good though

Wine purchased en primeur and stored in a northern European cellar shortly after bottling, which this evening is down to +0.5C, so perhaps the fact that this still has a good amount of crimson in the crimson-ruby colour, shouldn't be completely surprising. While ruby at the rim, this doesn't even look middle-aged to me.

Floral, subtle new barrique nose is proper Margaux. Caramel for a while, before returning to the floral theme, in particular, violets. Two hours later, there is more oak coming through, but the floral side becomes more intense too, adding blueberry muffin and some slightly roasted fruit notes to make for a very, very alluring and appealing nose.

Medium body, elegant, feminine with a nice sweetness. Ample concentration and polish, rounded, but still with considerable tannic grip after the middle. This is a lovely ''second'' wine, but the palate tends to reinforce its status, with the lack of grand vin complexity as well as length suggesting that the younger vines from Palmer are the source. Thanks to the nose, this is fine wine, with a good future. Thirty years are quite achievable.

We have had a long journey with this wine starting back in 2008 ( Papies 90) and happy to see this at its best after rating this 92 in 2019.
This is now at peak and is the wine we have been promised all these years ago and shows very well why prices of it have been creeping higher.
Very much the elegant wine, well matured now and with an old school classic edge, dark fruited, soft herbs, less leathery more on the fruit still albeit well secondary . Very solid 93-94

Not sure I agree with all these notes to ‘drink up.’ All of our bottles were in good condition and drinking well, if anything could use more time. This was one of my favorite wines and drank perfectly with the beef Wellington pairing. Lest elegant than most Margaux but not in a bad way, just more robust. Also the gap between this ‘second wine’ and the Chateau Palmer’ seems to be getting smaller, especially if you take price into account.
Double decanted 90 min before serving and that was fine. More time would have been ok too.

Popped n' poured last nite. Bricking, pale red color. The wine is aging. Nose of earth and mushrooms in that classic left bank style. Still black fruit here but I can see where some might think this wine is past its prime. I enjoyed its earthy, musty aromas and flavors, along with coffee beans and some cedar. No need to wait further on this one tho.

Pristine cork, beautiful pigeon’s blood red. Very little sediment. Decanted for 30 minutes, but could have handled an hour. Nose is rich and fruity, with some cinnamon, cedar, currants. A sweetness on the nose. Pretty and restrained elegance. What this lacks in complexity, it makes up for in refinement. Classic Margaux profile. This has years of life, but I’m not sure it’s going to add complexity or weight.

Once the funk blew off it was a beauty. Almost an hour decant. Day 2 its elegance really shined through. Another one to drink up as I do not see it improving with time.

This is drinking very well right now. 1st of 2 bottles bought at auction. Must have been well stored and cared for based on my experience relative to some other reviews I'm seeing. Great on nights 1 and 2. Some sediment. Great color, stone fruits, tastes reasonably mature, but not in decline.

Excellent cork condition and ullage. Tasted upon decanting and followed through 4 hrs. Dark reddish color with slight bricking. Initial smell of bark and damp wood blew off after 20 minutes. Leather, mild red fruit, and ever so slight dry rose aromas. In the palate, medium to full bodied with a hollow feel, restrained fruit, tertiary flavors and a medium finish. Tannins and acidity are completely resolved and the wine is fully mature, but does not seem to be in decline. Mediocre. I just don't believe there was much there to begin with. Perhaps a wine to drink in its youth. Consume now, as there is no upside at this point.

Low neck fill. Black-purple in glass. Lovely stylish bouquet just what you would expect from a nice claret. Just barely fading rims visible in glass. Medium body on palate with low acidity and moderate tannins. Slightly beyond peak. A little sediment coats inside of bottle.

Double decanted before bringing to the dinner place. Readily service in the glass. Medium nose with violet, perfume and smooth, integrated tannin. Not complicated but very nice to drink now. Agreed with other commenters that it has reached the peak, but I believe it could be drinkable in the next few years

Nose of flowery slightly sweet red fruits, a hint of spice! Dark in colour, smooth palate although a touchy tannic, neither tight nor opened, is it in an awkward stage? Hope to revisit in three years time!

breathe for about an hour. It continued to open up in the glass. Initial nose was barnyard and woodsy. Raspberries, cassis, tobacco. This wine really shines with its harmony and balance.

Opened and let sit for a couple of hours. I wish that I would’ve decanted instead of leaving in bottle. Nose was tobacco, leather and cedar. Initial flavors of herbs, forest floor and leather. Opened nicely over an hour or so. Starting to show its age just a bit, so bottles left should be consumed sooner than later.
