2/4/2023 - jonmartin1520 Likes this wine: 93 pointsTobacco and forest floor on the nose. Some dark fruit and baking spice with leather, cedar box flavors. Very good after a 2 hour decant. If I had any more bottles I would drink them soon. Probably slightly on the way down. Still very good though |

While ruby at the rim, this doesn't even look middle-aged to me. |

5/26/2022 - Decanting Queen wrote: 93 pointsNot sure I agree with all these notes to ‘drink up.’ All of our bottles were in good condition and drinking well, if anything could use more time. This was one of my favorite wines and drank perfectly with the beef Wellington pairing. Lest elegant than most Margaux but not in a bad way, just more robust. Also the gap between this ‘second wine’ and the Chateau Palmer’ seems to be getting smaller, especially if you take price into account. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

4/13/2022 - cephomer Likes this wine: 91 pointsPopped n' poured last nite. Bricking, pale red color. The wine is aging. Nose of earth and mushrooms in that classic left bank style. Still black fruit here but I can see where some might think this wine is past its prime. I enjoyed its earthy, musty aromas and flavors, along with coffee beans and some cedar. No need to wait further on this one tho. Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

1/16/2022 - PDavisMarble wrote: 91 pointsPristine cork, beautiful pigeon’s blood red. Very little sediment. Decanted for 30 minutes, but could have handled an hour. Nose is rich and fruity, with some cinnamon, cedar, currants. A sweetness on the nose. Pretty and restrained elegance. What this lacks in complexity, it makes up for in refinement. Classic Margaux profile. This has years of life, but I’m not sure it’s going to add complexity or weight. |

11/5/2021 - winecadence Likes this wine: 92 pointsOnce the funk blew off it was a beauty. Almost an hour decant. Day 2 its elegance really shined through. Another one to drink up as I do not see it improving with time. |

10/28/2021 - RWG Likes this wine: 92 pointsThis is drinking very well right now. 1st of 2 bottles bought at auction. Must have been well stored and cared for based on my experience relative to some other reviews I'm seeing. Great on nights 1 and 2. Some sediment. Great color, stone fruits, tastes reasonably mature, but not in decline. |

10/16/2021 - Doubleten wrote: 85 pointsExcellent cork condition and ullage. Tasted upon decanting and followed through 4 hrs. Dark reddish color with slight bricking. Initial smell of bark and damp wood blew off after 20 minutes. Leather, mild red fruit, and ever so slight dry rose aromas. In the palate, medium to full bodied with a hollow feel, restrained fruit, tertiary flavors and a medium finish. Tannins and acidity are completely resolved and the wine is fully mature, but does not seem to be in decline. Mediocre. I just don't believe there was much there to begin with. Perhaps a wine to drink in its youth. Consume now, as there is no upside at this point. |

8/20/2021 - 41hijinx Likes this wine: 88 pointsLow neck fill. Black-purple in glass. Lovely stylish bouquet just what you would expect from a nice claret. Just barely fading rims visible in glass. Medium body on palate with low acidity and moderate tannins. Slightly beyond peak. A little sediment coats inside of bottle. |

8/16/2021 - schan109 Likes this wine: 91 pointsDouble decanted before bringing to the dinner place. Readily service in the glass. Medium nose with violet, perfume and smooth, integrated tannin. Not complicated but very nice to drink now. Agreed with other commenters that it has reached the peak, but I believe it could be drinkable in the next few years |

8/14/2020 - jonmartin1520 Likes this wine: 90 pointsOpened and let sit for a couple of hours. I wish that I would’ve decanted instead of leaving in bottle. Nose was tobacco, leather and cedar. Initial flavors of herbs, forest floor and leather. Opened nicely over an hour or so. Starting to show its age just a bit, so bottles left should be consumed sooner than later. |
