I agree with last review. As consistent a California Cab as there is. Big and bold while retaining a nice finish. Can't go wrong.

Dark purple in color. Nice nose and a great blend of blue and blackberry on the palate. A medium length and smooth finish. A solid effort and great QPR for me. Highly recommended.

Very mixed feelings on this one. When you open a Howell Mtn cab you expect big, bold concentrated fruit. This had none of that.....like prior notes said, it was much more a Bordeaux than a Napa. My wife didn't like it at all, I was fine with it after accepting it for what it is.

Walla Walla & Red Mountain tastings: Classic notes of black currant, tobacco, roasted coffee, pepper and cedar. Juicy black fruit on the palate with the aforementioned savory depth. Smooth and rich texture. Fleshy tannin. Full finish. Excellent.

I usually love this wine but I think it was prematurely aging. It was more soft and flabby vs complex and structured. A bit disappointed. I know this is more a fluke though because I've had others and they were quite good.

Definitely some age on this but still youthful enough to enjoy. Tannins were soft and mellow but still there. Black cherry, a bit of cassis, leather glove, clove and truffle. Especially on the nose there was truffle and musty dark cellar. I thought it was corked but it tasted youthful and fresh.

Always a solid cab. Structured but very fruit forward. Not overly complex but a great 90-91 pt napa cab. Not much else to say.

If this wine was a pitch toward home plate, it would be way, way outside; there was something major off in both the fruit and the execution.

Now I used the Coravin over about 18 months on this. I opened it a year ago and it was young, tannic and tight. I waited and had it again 3 months ago and it was beautiful. Tannins were approachable, gripping but not overpowering. Silky but strong. I had the last half of the bottle the other night and it was underwhelming. Obviously this must be due to the Coravin. This came from the cellar each time and I think the cold temp doesn't allow the cork to seal itself as quickly.

Other 2 bottles untouched for almost 2 years (damn....surprised I have that much willpower!). This was practically served pop and pour, but was really ready to go from the word go. Nice and dense wine. Nose was great, quite a bit balanced with blackberry and violets. On the entry is a dark, soft, full bodied wine with blackberry cassis, vanilla, a little tar. Middle is soft, leather and rhubarb, blackberry core. Finish is with a fine grit tannin, lots of fine sediment in the last 50ml. Blackberry finish. Finished a little short, perhaps due to the tannin that just kind of soaked it up. Not really my favorite drinking Cimarossa at the moment......

I adore the tension and tradition within. Complex layers if dark berry fruit and spice, with some tobacco qualities as well. She was decanted for three hours. Such a long finish of fruit and raw meat, then there's a polished sheen. Absolutely adorable. Decant or wait a couple of years. Drink 2016 - 2031.

I'm in the camp with SRH on this wine. Yes, it's cheap, but you pay the price in drinking a thin, fruity, unstructured, boring wine. Better to pay a few more bucks for something decent. The Wayne Gretzky 2013 cab at $13, for example, runs circles around this. On the upside, The CC Grand Estates did do the trick as a main ingredient in a wonderful Bolognese sauce my wife made. I'm actually saving the other 2 bottles I have for the next sauce! Bon appetit! Life's too short to drink bad wine!

Decanted for two hours. Raw coconut, polished rock, currant and cedar. There is a salubrious plateau during the long, silky finish. I love the paradox of concentration and floating aspects. I would still wait a year or two. Drink 2017 - 2027.
