Drinking perfectly right now. Mineral, flint, lemon zest, and a light buttery texture. Simply delicious.

Relatively tight and compact but breathes up beautifully. Has some spearmint, green melon, white peach, and lemon. Perfectly ripe fruits play on a chalky base. It is fine, elegant and beautifully balanced. The finish is precise and persistent.

At Pierre’s in Bridge. Similar to its winemaker’s label PYCM, this wine was terrific once given time to open. Neither heavy or delicate, it it the spot with some oysters and sardines. I enjoy the Morey wines and wish they were a little more accessible in the US.

Needs a proper decant. Upon opening it was extremely subdued. Taste was faded but very good. After about 30 minutes opened up and was very expressive and balanced. Drank about a month ago so specifics evade me, but I will remember to decant for a bit next time.

Nose: mango, passion fruit, hints of white flower
Notes: some clear steely notes on both the nose and palate but it's showing quite beautifully. Clearly still a little young but I feel it's quite full of potential. Chassange itself has its limitations but this I would consider to be a pretty good one. The vintage for Burgundy whites specifically, which I personally find to be inferior to most other vintages (at least at this very moment), has not shown its characteristics in this particularly wine which means this would be one of rare white wines that I would enjoy coming from this vintage.

Pretty good performance for the vintage. While there is some stuffing, it's not an aggressive oak punch and there's actually some tropical notes. Showed quite a bit of range in evolution over the course of a few hours and is both approachable now and storable. Folks at the table thought it was a dauvissat ringer...which I guess pricing wise, this is where dauvissat used to be 3 years ago for a 1er cru so not a steal, but not bad value

Bertrand's Wine Dégustation (Beaune Burgundy): Walkaround tasting with the producers. Ripe apple and peach, but also clearly bright. Good power throughout, good energy on finish. Better to cellar a few years+.

Pronounced nose intensity with notes of honey suckle, beewax, pineapple. Seems to be more developed than its vintage or maybe did not stored properly.

Mainly Vosne and Chambolle GCs: Like this producer a lot but unfortunately this was a miss. Guessed SB because of the overt greenness so when it was revealed to be a Burgundy, thought that it could only be a 2021. Only a hint of lime fruit, overall quite lean and anaemic to me.

During a merchant tasting, no detailed notes. This producer was the discovery of the day. Wonderfully aromatic, fresh and precise wines, biodynamic farming. TN: This and the Puligny showed really well with flinty notes, and precision. They were very similar, the Chassagne with a touch more stuffing.

Beautiful and racy wine, flinty, reductive with bright lime, some pop corn reminding me of Paul Pillot or Henri Boillot. The 2021 vintage adds an additional racyness here, not thin but I would need a bit more stuffing for a higher score. Impressive nevertheless for lovers of the racy match stick style. Best after 2026. 93-94.

2014 Hubert Lamy Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chaumées

I've been a long time admirer of Hubert Lamy's wines from Saint-Aubin so the opportunity to dive into their Chassagne-Montrachets was exciting, not least when it's from one of my favourite climats - Les Chaumées. The nose boasted exuberant energy, balancing out sharp scents of lemon zest and peach with a strong oak backbone and minerality. The palate continued to impress as citrus notes shifted into ripe peach on the upfront as the bottle evolved. The mid-palate was tantalising as flint, butter and florality created tension with one another. The finish was short, incorporating oak and chalky qualities. As a whole the wine had good acidity, with the upfront of the palate starring far more than the finish. Nevertheless this is a good example of the prowess many of Lamy's wines possess, making for a great accompaniment to the evening.

Pale lemon flesh in color
Oyster shell, salinity, some lemon off the nose.Hint of rubber.
Absolutely wonderful. Great acidity, Tastes like the nose. A little chewy. Hint of pineapple. Medium plus finish. This wine is rocking. It took about an hour of being open to really hit its stride. Don't drink too cold. Just delicious. Drink now or hold, but I can't see it getting much better than this.

Pearl of Burgundy 2022 EP tasting: After a superb 2017 Chassagne village a couple of months ago, was looking forward to trying his 2022s. Consistent with my previous impression, a good up-and-coming producer that straddles between old- and new-school well. Will be inheriting more vineyards so hopefully it'll be easier to find his wines!

I’m a big fan of Caroline Morey’s whites. This bottle is certainly youthful, but opened up nicely after a little bit of time in the decanter. Racy, taut and bright, with sharp acidity. Will be cool to check back in on this in a few years.

Last one of a case. Deep colour and somewhat off nose but a brief decant assisted. Fully mature (nearly past it) with faded fruit, savoury, petrol nose, plenty of acidity, nice mouth feel and decent length.

Lemon pulp colour.
Lemon zest, pears, honeysuckle, lemon curd flesh. Nice acidity, clean flavours, only soft oak influence. Drinkable texture, it might age, has good flavour intensity, but feels like an early drinker.
