6/7/2012 - jpakma Likes this wine: 93 pointsIn town for a quick meeting and was treated to a nice steak dinner at the Palms - Tribeca and the wine stole the show. I've never had a Kamen cabernet before and we ordered this on a recommendation of the waiter. Decanted table side for about 20-30 minutes. A little tight on the nose, but you can smell the dark black and blue fruits, vanilla and and espresso on the nose. The wine is silky smooth and well balanced in the mouth with similar notes, but you can sense the additional notes/complexity that will come with time in the bottle. This wine was so well balanced and juicy - one of the more pleasurable cali cabs I've had recently. Bravo! |

That said, it does a very good job presenting itself in that form. Deep golden color, buttery oak nose with a hint of citrus. Sweet entry on the palate with a heaviness from the oak influence - butter, oak, sweet lemon citrus with some acidity to lift it on the finish. Not really my favorite but can see this being well liked by the masses. |

5/22/2012 - jpakma Likes this wine: 89 pointsMy last bottle and this was the best. Loads of blueberries and some cherry too, hints of tobacco/cigar, green pepper and oak but it's all in balance. Full bodied with medium+ acidity and medium+ finish all delivered for $9 made this an outstanding QPR. |

5/18/2012 - jpakma wrote: 92 points30 year old margaux showing sweet red fruit, florals, leather, spice, and some musty barnyard. The wine showed incredible balance and finesse with notes of sweet red fruit, cassis, leather, tea, dusty tannins and a finish that was very pleasant and long. The acidity seems to be the lifeline to this wine and makes this feel youthful and fresh despite slightly fading fruit and tannins. |

5/17/2012 - jpakma Likes this wine: 91 pointsThis was my first taste of Randy's wine (took delivery yesterday from the Cindy offer). I am a fan and chalk up another travel shock myth busted. This was extremely enjoyable. Dark crimson in color with just ever slight clear meniscus showing some age on the wine. Nose of black fruits cherries and berries with cedar and some greenness or pepper coming through. The wine is soft on entry with similar notes plus a hint of spice and vanilla. Medium acid and Medium + finish. I need to seek more of Randy's wines and maybe we can be lucky enough to see more on Cindy or WL site. |

5/5/2012 - jpakma wrote: 88 pointsIf you can find this for sub $10, pick up a bottle and try it and be sure not to serve it too cold. Best with just a light chill. Very light salmon in color, strawberry served up on slate mineral notes. A touch metallic at first but seemed to fade and the berries and mineral notes carry through a medium finish. This is not a sweet rose, very dry mineral tones. Very nice and a decent value. 87-88 |

5/1/2012 - jpakma wrote: 88 pointsLight yellow/gold in the glass. On the initial pop I'm getting some tropical fruits, lime zest, banana, vanilla, spice component, and oak. I didn't enjoy the first taste as it seemed oak dominant and heavier weight than expected. Drank this over two nights and the 2nd night was far superior to the first pour. I would agree with others that this needs a long decant if you can't wait or just leave your bottles alone for another 2+ years. I wish the oak treatment wasn't as heavy and there were more acidity in this. 88-90 |

4/30/2012 - jpakma wrote: 91 pointsSomewhat tight on the nose, slight petrol and citrus notes with hints of lime and some tropical but honestly it was giving up much although I do pick up some mineral notes too. The palate was focused and balanced with notes of apple, lime, citrus, mineral/slate, some tropical fruits. The finish was medium+. Great food wine or on its own and an outstanding QPR. |

4/23/2012 - jpakma Likes this wine: 94 pointsThursday, February 02, 2012 - Outstanding wine! Deep golden color, the nose loaded with white florals, citrus, apple, and minerals. Sweet white grapefruit on the palate, with very nice balance and mineral streaks. The finish goes on and on and you can see what's in store for this wine in secondary flavors of white pepper, nuttiness. |

4/21/2012 - jpakma Likes this wine: 91 pointsI told myself to stay away from this to let it age more before my next pour but it's drinking so well. Sweet entry of dark fruits, roasted coffee, dark chocolate with ripe sweet tannins on the finish. I have to leave my other bottles alone to see where this goes but this is an enjoyable wine to drink. 91+ |

4/16/2012 - jpakma Likes this wine: 93 pointsBeautiful translucent red in the glass with pink rose' hues at the meniscus. The nose is an elegant mix of crushed raspberry and strawberry, some light florals, spice and garrigue. The nose is intoxicating and seductive. The wine is silky smooth and there is a lot of structure here. Raspberry and strawberry laced with spice lead the way to some earthy notes on the finish. The finish is long and very pleasing. Overall, my only issue with the wine was some slight heat on the finish but this was an outstanding wine and a definite re-buy for me. |

4/16/2012 - jpakma wrote: 89 pointsFrom a 375ml, dark red in color, floral nose with laces of of cranberry and red fruit but fairly tight overall. I didn't do this wine any favors in consuming it after the open, I'd suggest a decant > 1hr before consuming. Nice weight and body to the wine and it seemed that with more time other flavors would surface on the palate. Overall, this was a solid effort, but will wait to open my next bottle. |

4/15/2012 - jpakma Does not like this wine: 82 pointsDark in color and a heavy dose of dark fruits, a little vegetal, and heavy iron or rust tone. This was a mess on the palate and just not my style. Heavy extraction and the alcohol was present/dominate. |

4/12/2012 - jpakma wrote: 90 pointsThe nose is concentrated black fruit, red meat, earthy with a perfumed florals as you pull away from the glass. The palate is loaded with sweet black fruits that transitions to tart dark cherry, dark chocolate, scorched earth and a balanced level of acidity. I would not hesitate to pop one and try it. This wine was excellent and offers great complexity at < $20. |

3/29/2012 - jpakma wrote: 85 pointsI may have opened this wine too soon. Not much on the nose, very dark in color. Palate was hot, and really not much to enjoy but over extracted flabby fruit. Maybe this wine will come around in a few years, but this bottle of wine was kind of a flabby fruit, but then a kick of unbalanced acid and tannin hit but not in an enjoyable way. Hoping for a better experience with the next bottle in a few years. |
