11/19/2023 - The Andrews Likes this wine: 92 pointsRipe, orange-ey color and honeyed to start, tho decent acid and well balanced. Started out a bit overripe and thin, then firmed up. Really interesting and enjoyable. |

9/11/2023 - The Andrews Likes this wine: 94 points4-hour decant, and didn’t really open up for another hour after that. Peak was at about 6 hours. Heavily dark fruit driven today, floral on the nose, but solid tannin structure. Ben thought it was close to one dimensional, but Margaret thought it had more going on, and was just young. Probably worth waiting another several years. Quite reminiscent of a big Napa cab today. Might have been much better on day 2, but we finished it :). Bit of a quaffer at this point. 94 today with upside potential. |

9/2/2023 - The Andrews wrote: NRTriple decanted 3 hours and tried along the way. Restrained nose and tightish palate that slowly opened up, but only after 4 or so hours was it showing its stuff. The nose was spectacular with notes of leather along with darker, deeper red fruit, and well integrated but still noticeable tannins. It had its best window about 4 hours in then the tannins just were a bit too much after dinner at 5 or 6 hours. It reminded us of a too-young ‘99 La Mouline which was crazy exciting given how that last bottle was a top 3 lifetime wine experience for Ben. We are thrilled to have more of this but will wait another 5 years, and one could argue 10 for this to hit it’s real stride. Kinda like that Mouline we still talk about 2 months later… |

7/16/2023 - The Andrews Likes this wine: 95 pointsDecanted 4 hours then drank over several hours. The nose was fabulous, black cherries and some glycerine on the nose that intensified over the evening. Margaret thought the nose was better than the palate but she enjoyed this tonight more than I did. I thought it was a bit primary and we both thought to leave our remaining bottles alone for anywhere from 3 (her) to 10 (me) years. A lovely wine that just needs more time. |

7/9/2023 - The Andrews wrote: 98 pointsDecanted 3 hours. The integration of this wine, despite high tannin, is incredible. This wine is a baby, but gives so much pleasure already. Blueberries on the nose, cassis, glycerin, such a smooth mouthfeel. Wow. Over 4 hours it smoothed out some, and was a delight to drink, but again, is still quite young. Fabulous wine. |

5/27/2023 - The Andrews wrote: NRNose on opening was phenomenal and same throughout the night. Opened and delicate decant at 3:30. Started tasting it at 7:30 but the palate was initially monolithic. Started to smooth out at 8:30 and was best at 9:30. Glycerin, dark red fruits but sweet as well. Will likely be as good as the 1999 (which was 100pts for us recently) but unless you open this the prior day, this is too early at this stage. Would wait 5-10 years to drink the next. |

5/6/2023 - The Andrews wrote: 94 points2 hour decant and it needed it. Quite primary on the palate with a beautiful nose, dark red fruits, blackberry, cloves. Tight on the palate but started to open up after 3 hours. Nose was really singing after 3 hours, but again a bit monolithic so this needs time. Can use at least a couple more years or more to resolve, maybe 5+ depending on the decant. High potential for us, and the last glass was the best. |

5/2/2023 - The Andrews wrote: 93 pointsDay 1 - Coravined to glasses: beautiful bright cherries on the nose, and strawberries, but rather grapey on the palate. Good acid and balance. Enjoyable but not amazing. Stored under argon over night in the fridge |

4/30/2023 - The Andrews wrote: NRDecanted for three hours and tasted along the way. Nose was graphite, dark cherries, and classic Lafitte reserve. Palette was tight-ish but loosened up after a few hours in the decanter. Fill was into the neck and this seemed to be a perfect bottle. Not a blockbuster but beautiful bottle of claret. Fully mature but not over the hill. Truly enjoyable experience. 95-96. |

4/8/2023 - The Andrews wrote: 98 pointsOpened briefly and re-corked for several hours in the cellar. Remarkably delicate - strawberries, rose hips, mild spice and perfectly balanced acid. It improved over the course of a 4-hour window, and the last glass might have been the most beautiful and integrated. This bottle may have had a little travel abuse over the years, and already showed a touch of bricking, but was still fantastic. A top 3 wine experience for Margaret - her words. Only thing lacking was more staying power, but again, perhaps that speaks to the handling over the years. Still, for something that I paid $400 for (and is now supposedly selling for $3k) this was an amazing experience. |

3/6/2023 - The Andrews wrote: 95 pointsPop and pour, overripe and honeyed nose to start, but plenty of acid. I'd be weird if you pulled me out from under a cork after 17 years. With 90 mins of air, things smoothed out. Then it was beautifully balanced between light apple, subtle honey and still plenty of acid. Not an amazing wine, and likely at it's peak, but there was a window where this was lovely and we loved it. |

3/5/2023 - The Andrews Likes this wine: 94 pointsOpened a 750 and immediately put half in a 375 to go in the fridge overnight. Decanted the rest and let it sit for 2 hours. Quite primary and structured as we started drinking it. Black cherry, plum, faint rose petal on the nose, but again, a bit tight on the palate compared to some of the older ones we've been having. The last glass of the night (5 hours after decanting) was the best with floral notes (rose petal) coming out. Wow at that point! |

2/3/2023 - The Andrews wrote: 100 pointsMargaret and I drank to celebrate our daughter's first birthday and after about 3 hours in the decanter it was incredible and kept improving thru the night. Roasted cherries, rose petal, glycerine galore, tannins that were clearly there but almost imperceptible. This is the real deal and was a top-10, maybe top 5 wine experience of my life from any region. Just wow. |

1/29/2023 - The Andrews Likes this wine: 93 pointsA little pruney on opening but blew off in ~15 mins. 2 hour decant mellowed it out to a well integrated wine with lots of acids, primary merlot-driven red fruit and earthy notes. We enjoyed this, but it seemed a little simple. |

1/29/2023 - The Andrews Likes this wine: 93 pointsGreat bottle. Age appropriate. Love the pucelles nose and creamy mouth feel. A little ripe but just right for a 14 year old wine. Fourth bottle from this case and no signs of premox. No decant necessary. Coravined overnight and was perfect day two. |

1/8/2023 - The Andrews wrote: 94 pointsStarted a little overripe prune for 15 or so mins when we decanted it at 5, but then that blew off and the deep red fruit and cassis came out. This needed a couple hours to open up and then we got a ton of glycerin in the palate, but a fair bit of obvious acid, too. At various points Margaret did pick up a fair bit of blue fruit, too. Lovely in pieces, but just not the typical seamless Grange. A strong wine and one that we’re glad to have drunk, but we wouldn’t go get more. Probably at or just past peak, but again, there was a lot of beautiful fruit in the middle part of the wine. |

12/29/2022 - The Andrews Likes this wine: NRWanted a fruit bomb with good balance, and this delivered. Initially some raisin/prune that blew off in about an hour and then we got what we wanted. Modest tannin, ripe red fruit, some tar and glycerin. Strong complexity but not a complicated wine. A nice Thursday night treat on NYE eve. Here’s to you, Mike. RIP. |

12/25/2022 - The Andrews Likes this wine: 95 pointsGood bottle, 2 hour decant and ate with brother and co for Christmas feast. Powerful black fruit, earthy notes and good acid, but quite primary for the first few hours then a little less balanced. Maybe our palate was tired after all the heavy food? We enjoyed this, but Margaret said she liked it better alone ba with food. Interesting |

11/14/2022 - The Andrews Likes this wine: 93 pointsRipe prune when opened. Decanted. Better balanced at 45 min. Not a lot of obvious tannin but did have structure. Extremely enjoyable with food. Not a blockbuster wine. Probably not going to improve. Put half the bottle in a 375 immediately and the wine didn’t change the next day. |

11/4/2022 - The Andrews Likes this wine: NRDecanted about an hour. Tight and iodine heavy to start but didn’t really open up for a few hours. Then the nose was raspberries, currant, ripe plum and a little spice. Seemed like a solid, mid-90s bottle but not as sexy and all encompassing as the last time we had it in 2019. |

10/15/2022 - The Andrews Likes this wine: NRDouble decanted and drank 2 hours later. Still a bit tight and a fruit bomb. Black cherries,, but it did smooth out over a couple hours. Took half the bottle home, covered with Argon then drank the other half the next night. Far better, but still a bit tight. This needs time. |

9/3/2022 - The Andrews Likes this wine: 99 pointsDeep woods, truffle, mushroom. Iodine initially but developed really nicely and faded into harmony. Decanted at 4:30 and drank at 7 as the flavors smoothed out and integrated. Best around 8-9, but didn’t fade much. As a 32-year old wine, this is a middle aged welterweight that should age well. What a great, smooth experience. Loved and would try to have again. |
