PnP. Medium light greenish gold. Nose of citrus and sage. On the palate this has nice salinity with citrus notes in the fruit - nice balance between the roundness of the fruit and the acidity on the finish. Drinking well at age 8 but this can clearly go longer.

2016 Aubert Chardonnay Lauren Estate Vineyard

Lovely wine in the typical Aubert style with a combination or orchard and tropical fruits, lush mouth feel, and adequate finish. I thought this lacked the acid backbone that the best Auberts have at age 8. Drink up.

2006 Faiveley Corton-Clos des Cortons Faiveley

Corton Grand Cru Pinot Noir more

PnP - perfect cork and fill. Medium red with browning on the edge. First night this was almost undrinkable - intense mineral very tannic and drying on the finish. Magically transformed on day 2 (stored in fridge, corked). Lovely cherry flavors with mineral underpinnings and just a slight drying finish. Quite impressive as Corton often is, but a challenge. Not sure where this goes from here but better vintages of this wine could live for decades.

PnP. Medium light gold. Nose of citrus (lemon/lime) oyster shell, Lovely mouthfeel with a linear presentation of the fruit and a not overwhelming acid kick on the finish which also displays a lovely herbal (sage?) component. This feels less developed than a 16 Bougros de Boquerots from a few month ago. No signs of premox and will keep my last bottle til age 15 or so.

PnP. Really tight cork. Light greenish gold; nose is predominantly citrus driven with some herbal hints. On the palate this is better than most Rhys Chards I've tasted as it has more roundness and depth of fruit to balance the usual acidity. More Cote de Beaune than Chablis. Very nice now and I'm sure will age well for 3-5 years.

PnP. Light greenish gold. Nose of citrus and iodine initially. Then closes up but lovely balance of fruit and acid on the palate. More approachable than this wine can be as the ripeness of the fruit balances this high acidity. Nice wine drinking well.

PnP. Light greenish gold. Citrus, lemon/lime, sea air on the nose. Really lovely spherical presentation on the palate; elegant but intense. This is really classic. I miss a bit of the exotic character this has in some vintages but that may develop with time. Drinking well but not rush.

PnP. Medium red with clearing at the rim. Lovely nose of blood orange red apple and strawberry. Red fruited on the palate with strawberry and raspberry and a hint of citrus; medium weight but with lovely acid on the finish to balance it. Tannins completely resolved. This is lovely and may live another decade based on the balance, but why wait? Drinking beautifully at age 15.

PnP. Medium gold. Intense nose of tropical and orchard fruits. On the palate this has excellent depth of flavor with pear, peach, and other stone fruits. Perhaps a bit soft on the finish to balance the intensity of the fruit. Lovely wine though perhaps not at the top of the Marcassins I've had.

PnP. Lovely medium red. Spicy red fruited Vosne nose with a hint of funk. On the palate this has medium weight black cherry and dark fruits; there is a bit of oak and some tannins which detract on the finish. This may need another 5 years to integrate.
Good not great.

PnP. Medium deep red. Nose of dark fruit/berries with some herbal notes. Medium weight on the palate with lovely flavors of dark and red fruits and some red apple as well. This is quite intriguing and definitely better than the last bottle. No tannins to resolve but good acidity on the finish suggests this will continue to age gracefully. Last bottle unfortunately! Anderson valley pinots are sneaky agers often to 20 years in my experience.

PnP. Medium light red. Lovely red fruits on the nose. On the palate cherry, red apple, blood orange. Medium bodied nice balance with completely resolved tannins. This is perhaps a bit soft and lacking the acidity on the finish needed for longer term aging. Nice - drink up.

PnP. Medium red. Gorgeous nose right away - plum, pomegranate, blood orange. Medium weight on the palate with lovely satiny texture and good fruit and acid balance on the long finish. Very typically Summa with the intense blood orange flavor. Not sure this will improve further but a treat at age 11.

Sonoma Coast more

2/5/2024 - rosenst1 wrote: 93 points

PnP. Medium deep red. Ripe dark fruits and minerals on the nose. On the palate this is both open knit and powerful, with a floral component, iron minerality and a smooth rich finish which is quite long. Perhaps less structured than Hirsch often is perhaps due to very low yields but drinking quite well now. Intriguing wine from a difficult vintage.

PnP. Medium light greenish gold. Nose of citrus and mineral. On the palate this is more orchard fruit driven with a lovely roundness to the fruit and finishes with good acidity. The balance is spot-on; would be more likely to think Old World given the restraint and lack of oak influence. One of the best Rhys Chards I've tasted. Will last a few more years but likely at peak.

1/13/2024 - rosenst1 wrote: 91 points

PnP. Medium red. Nose of red raspberry, cranberry and cherry. On the palate this is rather intense with crunchy cherry as the dominant flavor with some oak on the finish. The oak seems to become more apparent with air. This also lacks the typical signature of Hirsch which is an iron minerality reminiscent of Volnay. Interesting but other wineries take on this are better often.
