2008 Forman Cabernet SauvignonNapa Valley more |
5/10/2024 - THREECHEERSFORTHERED wrote: 93 pointsThis is delicious! I had trouble with the cork - very dry, it broke in half, but didn't crumble. I decanted but had first glass immediately. No sediment. Nice ruby color. A bit of fruit (cherry, blueberry) up front. Nice long finish. Balanced but with a pleasant chewiness. I will try again tomorrow to see if it mellows further. This 2008 vintage can stay in cellar - hold or drink now. My first experience with Forman - I'm a fan and hope later vintages are as well made. |

2/19/2024 - THREECHEERSFORTHERED wrote: 90 pointsI've participated in the drinking of at least 6 bottles of this 2020 vintage in 2022 to summer of 2023 and they were absolutely delicious 94+ points, if you love this type of Zin blend, which I do. But, we did a PnP over the weekend and it wasnt the same OMG tasting. Maybe it's closed down for a bit? Don't get me wrong, it was still great drinking, but not like I remember for the first 6 bottles. I thought over the course of the night with some air it would improve. I will wait to open other bottles. |

2/1/2024 - THREECHEERSFORTHERED Likes this wine: 91 pointsThis was a PnP. Delicious at first sip. Showing the alcohol 16.1%!!!! Beautiful dark red color. Who says Zins don't age well?! This Turley has a few years left, yet. |

10/27/2023 - THREECHEERSFORTHERED Likes this wine: 90 pointsNot ready, yet. 15% alcohol really shows. I had a bottle from this same lot last year and it really sang, very floral, quite delicious. I don't know what happened, but I suppose it is now shutdown. I will try again in a few years. |

9/4/2023 - THREECHEERSFORTHERED Likes this wine: 92 pointsreceived as a gift in July. Uncorked today for 2 hours before drinking. Drank over 2 hours with friends. Fruity, smooth, delicious (chocolate, cherry). Not overly complex but we all enjoyed and wish I had more... so, I bought a case today for "every day" drinking this year. Good price point ($44 with free shipping) for "every day" wine. |

8/19/2023 - THREECHEERSFORTHERED Likes this wine: 93 pointsserved as a PnP and was delicious from the get-go. Smooth tannins, still a bit of complexity and did I say delicious? I have a few more bottles and will be doing a vertical with 2005. Will report back on that. |

5/10/2023 - THREECHEERSFORTHERED Does not like this wine: 87 pointsJust fair. I thought it would be a bargain, coming from lastbottle marathon, but just a plain old $20 bottle of wine, and I've had better $20 wine. Like they say, 2016 mediocre bottle wine is still a mediocre bottle of wine in 2023. PnP started off musty nose, alcohol-forward, long sour finish... only thing good for is to add to gravy and to get a buzz. |

2/28/2023 - THREECHEERSFORTHERED wrote: 90 pointsI agree with ONE PERCENTER on taste. It was good, but other Cali Cabs in that price range are better, e.g. Crossbarn Napa 2019 (less expensive) and Venge Silencieux 2019 are delicious right out of the bottle. |

2/25/2023 - THREECHEERSFORTHERED Likes this wine: 91 pointsHad two bottles of 2003 in two days. Both were delicious. First bottle was drank with Friday night pizza. I took a sniff and sip when I first opened, but waited 2 hours until drinking. Opened second bottle, but only drank half. Drank second half next day. No decanting done. The only hint that the bottles are 20 years old is a slight bit of sediment. They were well taken care of; kudos to Zachys. Beautiful dark ruby red color that is typical of Geyserville in its youth. Nose is earthy, leather, tobacco. Tannins are mellowed, wine a bit acidic, strong alcohol presence, feels like the bottles could be held a few more years and still hold their own. From other reviews, I was afraid this vintage would be a bust this late in its life, but still a lot of life and I am pleased. Can't wait to open another bottle! |
