This has a absolute wow nose. The nose is immensely aromatic with so much complexity and perfume to the spice and dried herbs; cool mint, dark cherry, orange peel, dried coriander, underbrush, with some medicinal herbal and mineral notes. The palate really takes hold over 20 minutes, opening up and showing the pristine red fruits with more subtle darker fruited nuances. Although I think it is the spice, herb and also the forest floor with that purity that really delineates this; though the caressing mouthfeel does as well. Bouyant minerals and depth with soft tannins that lifts the palate on a high toned lengthy finish. Gorgeous bottle, thanks Siggy. 97 to 97+pts. |

4/16/2024 - rocknroller wrote: 94 pointsHeidi's Group: Oh My! (St. Genevieve, Mpls, MN): Light medium gold color. Drank a glass over 2 hours. It's been about 3 years since we last had this. Tonight's bottle shows the evolution nicely as this takes on more weight and richness now. Dense, full bodied and round, juicy fruits, orange and more citrus, touches of pineapple, subtle lemon cream, honeyed, loads of oyster shell and ocean minerality. Clearly shows it grand cru power and class. Excellent, and maybe even better in it's brighter youth? Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

4/16/2024 - rocknroller wrote: 95 pointsHeidi's Group: Oh My! (St. Genevieve, Mpls, MN): Light gold color. Drank a glass over 2 hours. This was right on point tonight. A spendid example of what I adore in classically made white burgundy. There is such a deft had at work here; measured, precise, and beautifully manicured. This is the picture of refinement and harmony, a masterful crystalline latticework of minerality, crisp and bright; Meyer lemon, nectarine, and tangerine fruit. This is ultra focused with tension and energy, cool lemon, subtle gunflint, tangerine panna cotta and a cool limestone finish. Great showing. 95+ to 96pts. |

4/16/2024 - rocknroller wrote: 98 pointsHeidi's Group: Oh My! (St. Genevieve, Mpls, MN): Light plus golden color. Drank a glass over an hour plus. My first experience with the '02 P2, but the regular '02 has been a long time favorite. So it was fun to finally get a chance to try this before my bottles arrive. Explosive and ultrafine bubbles and mousse, meet you from the start and signal the sublime elegance that is to come. Wow, simply beautiful and showing the class and complexity of the extended time on the lees. Caramel, flan, creamy and subtle, pastry crust, pear and mirabelle plum; long and contemplative, almond tart, fine lemon, brioche, toasty, stony minerality, texturally grand! This was a revelation tonight, though not so unexpected. I look forward to drinking this side by side with the '04 P2 and watch the stars align. Blissfully good. |

4/16/2024 - rocknroller wrote: 95 pointsHeidi's Group: Oh My! (St. Genevieve, Mpls, MN): Light gold color. Drank a glass over an hour next to the '02 Dom P2. This was the third time having the '12 including at Taittinger last Fall. This continues to be in that vibrant and fresh mode with plenty of electricity and cut. I fully expect this to evolve even further over the next few years, but it is inspiring now and hard to keep one's hands off when given the opportunity to experience it. Tons of fresh air, tart apple, Anjou pear, toast, tart, great freshness and cut, very bright, green apple peel, very invigorating. 95+(+)pts. |

Ripe nose with black currants, raspberry, and wild cherry, with some woodsy notes, coarse ground tobacco and underbrush. The palate is medium-full bodied, satiny with tart black currants, dried tobacco leaf, dried earth, dusty minerality, tart cherry with fine tannins. Probably at peak. |

4/14/2024 - rocknroller wrote: 91 pointsLight gold color. Drank a glass over an hour. This was showing more oak today than I recall from the first bottle. Youthful, cedarbox, vanilla, ripe fruits, ripe pear, ripe pineapple with a sweet fruit essence on the nose and palate. Viscous and tangy with more citrus on the back end that buoys the flashy tropical fruits and oak. Not a wallflower, but well made and should integrate nicely over another 2 years. 91(+)pts. |

4/13/2024 - rocknroller wrote: 95 pointsBright light gold color. Drank a couple glasses over 2 hours. This was flat out stunning. I was mesmerized from the first sip. The nose is packed with a sublimely complex melange of fruits that constantly make you contemplate what you just percieved only to find yourelf then 2 or 3 fruits down the line. Fresh peach, lychee, mirvelle plum, acacia flowers, Tropical fruits, Meyer lemon, and lime with ocean air and white stones on the effusive nose. The palate brims with energy, bright and crisp with tantalaizing fruits and great cut. The same fruit drives through the palate, adding orange peel, pretty ocean minerality and more subtle brine. This just goes on and on too. This paired great with our Blue Point oysters and Halbut en Papillote tonight. Absolutely fabulous! We had a touch left today, and I think it was even better if that's possible. |

4/13/2024 - rocknroller wrote: 91 pointsLight gold color. Drank 2 glasses over an hour plus. All Grand Cru fruit from Avize, Cramant, and Chouilly with a low dosage. The nose is yeasty, baked apple, pear and biscuit, fairly fresh with a little air. The palate shows red apple, spiced apple crisp, ginger, biscuit, honey and nutmeg. Maybe not the most elegant, but solid, and a great value for GC grower bubbles. Although I liked it more than my wife did. 91+ for me/90 for her. |

Fresh, youthful nose, with lychee, tangerine, creamy, bright, nectarine, pineapple and floral notes with oh so sublte wisps of spice. The palate is crystalline in purity and superbly balanced to the bright acid and fruit alongside the well masked sweetness here. The fruit is tropical and lively with a creainess and mouth watering aspect that is so refreshing in these "young" Sauternes. Loved it, so nice in the early window. 94(+)pts. |

Very pretty dried forest fllor notes on the nose, dried earth and dark berries. The palate was medium plus bodied reflecting the ripeness of the vintage; stainy texture, dark cherry, with cool red berries, underbrush and dried earth. This took on more depth and nuance over the 3 hours. |

Drank a glass plus over 3 hours. this starts you off with fine dried spices, pencil, red currants, and spiced black cherry. This has a medium body, very tangy and the palate shows more pretty red berries with some of the spiced cherry on the back end and more sublte dark fruits. Very nice, though I long for another level from this. Maybe still has a little upside? 92+pts. |

4/12/2024 - rocknroller wrote: 91 pointsWine Lunch (Gary's Place, Hudson, WI): Medium murky red color. Drank a glass plus over 3 hours. I liked this more at the start. As it first opened it had some reduction, plenty of funk, cherry, iron and blood and earthiness. The longer it was in glass, the reduction become more angular and one dimensional, and obscured the pretty cherry fruit and minerality. Medium full bodied, fine tannins, ready to go. 91+ to 92pts. |

4/12/2024 - rocknroller wrote: 92 pointsWine Lunch (Gary's Place, Hudson, WI): Medium gold color. Drank a glass plus over 3 hours. Offering a distinct contrast to the '13 Bouchard Perrieres in terms of richness and body, this deeply layered and full bodied wine shows plenty of character and complexity. More mature now, I don't think I would push these much further for my taste. A little reductive, orange, orange cream and spiced orange peel, moderate spicebox, rich and honeyed on the nose. the palate is full and more round, reductive, ripe emon, orange cream, spice orange peel, honey, toffee, vanillin, spicy and a little bit angular on the back end. Drink up, 92+pts. |

The bright palate strike me a medium plus bodied, citrus up front, lemon peel, peach, stone, amid good intensity and mouth watering acid and dry extract. Very nice indeed and smack dad in my wheelhouse; I wish I had a couple more these now. |

Also delicious, with a more tropical bend, is the flamboyant 2012. More juicy on the palate, with Mandarin orange out front, nectarine, and a hint of tropical fruit followed by some mouthwatering tropical fruits, pretty mineral notes. This is rounder, but still showing plenty of acidity, and it's very classy. 94+ to maybe 95pts. |
