Drinking well right now still has life left in it, really nice tertiary notes with nice finish but not as long as I would have liked.

At around £30 this is all you could hope for in a South African Chardonnay. Generous and elegant, not long or complex perhaps but splendid balance. A high altitude limestone vineyard. Young vines - 13 years so the quality should only improve.

2021 Viña Cobos Cocodrilo Corte Valle de Uco Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Dark ruby in color, this wine is full bodied and full of flavor. Aromas of oak, cherries and spices, and tastes of juicy blackberries, dark cherries and plum. The wine is rich, ripe, and flavorful, flowing to a long lasting finish, with silky smooth tannins. Made in a fruit-forward style by Paul Hobbs. Delicious and satisfying.

This is a good Riesling but I prefer German ones.

The wine rarely disappoints! At its peak now! Showcasing the distinctive aroma of floral fruits! Very pure palate, with sweet fruits offering a lingering finish!

This is perhaps one of the best wines to do the food pairing! The gorgeous, rich aroma of jammy black fruits, a hint of leather! A touch rustic in texture with sumptuous amounts of sweet, ripe, spicy dark fruits. A lengthy finish, drinking very well at the moment! But also you can keep it for some time!

Pale lemon. Medium+ aromas of lemon, lime, grapefruit, apple, pear, vanilla, clove, cinnamon, smoke, brioche, hazelnut, almond. High acidity, medium+ body, creamy and long finish. Outstanding and suitable for further ageing.

Fragrant and deep aroma of ripe black plums, black peppers, intense clove and hints of toasted oak on the nose. Palate is less forward and more elegant than what the nose suggested. Felt more like a cool climate Shiraz from Victoria on the palate. Medium-bodied with some tannins to support proper aging. Good level of acidity running through from entry to an extended mid-palate and velvety spicy finish. This lacked some density and depth compared to the winery Joanna Shiraz on the palate. Almost at its finest peak now and will continue to drink nicely for the next 3-5 years.

Medium garnet. Pronounced aromas of strawberry, raspberry, red plum, stewed fruit, vanilla, cedar, violet, mushroom, tomato leaf, forest floor. High acidity, high smooth tannins, full bodied. Long finish. This is outstanding. Can keep for a bit longer but struggle to see how it improves.

Uncork the bottle 1 hour in advance. Nose with some earthy, leather, almost like wet forest floor. Tastes like plums, blackberries. A little different than my previous bottles. The wine is round and mature. The situation seems to have passed its peak. Maybe the wine was not stored well.

The colour of this resembles that of an old wine. There is no sediment in the bottle. The nose is complex, with an alluring mix of perfume, fresh herbs, tomato leaf, cherry, raspberry, sweet tobacco, mushroom, and licorice. Flavours are raspberry, rose petal, tomato leaf, and licorice. Although flavours are not as complex as the nose, it is still a tasty wine, especially when paired with food. On its own, it has high & chalky tannins, but with food, it becomes soft. Short finish, medium plus acidity.

A wonderful Meursault with ripe yellow fruit, dried tropical extract, minerals, spice and lemon curd. The palate had sharp acidity to compliment the voluptuous fruit. It was deep and round with lots of energy. Excellent. 92-93

I'm saying I'm neutral in liking this wine due to it being the 3rd time I've purchased this wine ... and not real cheap I might add ... and all 3 times, the wine has not 'delivered' at its price point. I lacks in balance and the palate is muddled. Disappointing.

I had this blind and got everything wrong, I said it was a Spanish Tempranillo 2016. It was Decanted for just 30 min and it was to little air to really reveal it’s real personality.

We paired with aged Filet Mignon made in sous vide and sautéed squash. After about one hour the wine revealed its character, all the dark and floral components pointed to a big boy from Napa.

94+ Drink or HOLD (best days ahead).

Dark cerise.
Utterly unique nose of heady floral scents, nectar and honey, roses and smoke.
The palate started with dark red fruits, sloes and damsons mingled with dank forest floor, but with air interestingly boysenberries and complex charcuterie, particularly sopressa but also jamon, pepper, became prominent in what is a weightless, mineral-acid wine, barely discernible tannin, enjoyed over 8 hours it evolved minimally.
This was a very interesting experience but again, like most Barthod I’ve tasted, more in the realm of academic than hedonistic pleasure.

Lovely wine. A little hot on the nose but didn’t notice it on the palate. Dark, rich, dry. Blackberry, leather, baking spices. Structured but silky tannins. Medium high acid. Lingering finish. Not showing any serious signs of aging. I’ve got several other bottles. Will probably last at least 2 to 3 more years. Drinking nicely now.

Appearance: Bright and clear, the wine is of light lemon colour, with wide watery rims and legs.
Nose: Clean, with medium (+) intensity aromas of green fruit of apple, citrus fruit of lemon, floral notes of honeysuckle, stone fruit of peach, mineral notes of waxy, sweet spice of ginger, maturity notes of hay. The wine is developing.
Palate: Dry with medium (+) acidity, the wine has medium alcohol, medium body, with medium (+) flavours of green fruit of green apple, citrus fruit of lemon, sweet spice of ginger, kernel notes of almond, mineral notes of beeswax. The wine has a medium (+) finish.
Conclusion: Very good quality Margaret River Chardonnay with an intense and complex nose showing wonderful fruity and floral characters, with some ginger and waxy notes too. On the palate the wine is refreshing, with good acidity and well-structured, having wonderful concentration of flavours and fairly long length as well. It is ready to drink now but can benefit from further ageing of another 3-5 years.

Drink alongside Pimpernel Pinot Noir Two. No. One, pursues an elegant style with minimal intervention, where No. Two is the antithesis of One with emphasis on secondary character expression.

Cork popped on both say 45 mins prior to drinking.

One was my favourite, although the room seemed to like Two better. Both were what I think of typical Yarra Valley Pinot, dark baked/stewed fruits, savoury and a touch of fungal / dry earthiness to them.

One seemed lighter, whiff of prettiness, baked fruits and less weight to the body.
Two was more prominent in descriptors, darker stewed fruits and more generous in body.

Both I thought were aging well and quite enjoyable, but I’d say in their drinking windows.

2014 Château Montlandrie Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
14.5% alcohol. M 75%, CF 20%, CS 5%. Very good long cork with essentially no wine penetration. Decanted an hour ahead. Pretty dark with no sign of ageing even at the rim.
The nose is very appealing in a dark fruited mode (huge comfort factor here), with no intrusive oak. Similarly pleasing in the mouth with no tannins left, but reasonable grip nevertheless. Very smooth without being too sleek.
I defy anyone not to fall for this wine; heck, I did, even though on paper it is not for me on account of the overwhelming Merlot content; calling it a crowd pleaser would not do it justice though, as it is a model of balance within its style, but you could serve this at a party and expect all around compliments.
The late Denis Durantou knew his business, no doubt about it. Drank this to his memory, with thanks due to the generous donor.

PnP, with notes of fresh squeezed lime and petrol jumping out of the glass. Bone dry with good intensity and featuring notes of lime, Granny Smith apple, and grapefruit coalescing on the palate. A slight honeyed note emerges as it warms, with lively acidity keeping it racing along.

3/21 disgorgement. This showed very well. Autolytic aromas coupled with yellow fruit and floral notes on the nose. The palate has mouthfilling fruit and taut acidity, but it's light, airy, and totally harmonious. Delightful and superior to earlier bottles that hadn't had the benefit of some cellar time.
