Youthful purple. Nose closed at first. Decanted 1hr. Layer upon layer of dark fruits. Just a hint of sweet smoke...new oak? Didn't think they used oak here...Very approachable for a young Cabassaou. Primary, but delicious. Long finish. Excellent.

Light straw gold. Big nose of pear. Medium bodied, flavors of orchard fruits, honey, flowers, hay and minerals. Long finish with a slight bitter note that I kinda liked. I felt that this grape variety could have easily gone clunky, but the excellent winemaking keep it light and balenced. I was really excited to try this wine, being a hugh Tempier fan and this being the first bottle of white I have been able to lay my hands on. Not at the level of their Rose or Red, but still very good. This wine gave me the feeling of sitting on a large rock in a wild meadow basking in warm September sunshine.

Ruby. Starting to pick up weight. Nose is a little shy at the moment. Tart, sweet, cranberry and red current. Medium weight, medium finish. Very precise, very Chambolle. Excellent Village wine. While this is much better than a year ago, It still isn't ready. I would give it another year or two. Very nice. I like this style.

Medium purple. Nose just starting to open with some swirling. Dark fruits, somber. Earthy. After 30 minutes opening much more. Good solid Gevrey in need of a couple more years. To me this seems very old school style. Medium finish. Nothing wrong here. Very good and will improve.
White
Light gold. Very expressive nose, took a little air time to settle down, then drank wonderfully. I would say it is just entering it's window. Very nicely balanced, complex and long. Excellent.

Either POX or improper storage. I don't know the providence with this bottle. Heavy gold. Thick around the waist. Clunky oak, oily and yucky.

Excellant, full, fruity and funky (in a really good way). Drinking well with a brief decant.
Red
Youthful ruby. smokey minerals and wave after wave of cherries. Body is starting to fill out with bottle time. Nice, medium finish. Excellent wine. Needs a few more years.

Totally delicious. Much more open than I expected. Very smooth and balanced. Nice nose, full mid and nice finnish. At this stage the fruit prevails, but some complexity is present along with minerals. Very enjoyable. Excellent.

Out of Magnum. Salmon pink color. Nice nose of Strawberry and melon. After a little time, a hint of papaya added intrigue. Good freshness and focus with a decent finish. Very complex for a Rose. Just a bit lighter than the 07. Very enjoyable.

Inky purple. Sweet nose of black fruit, minerals and smoke Very nice balance. Rich, robust wine. Drinking well, although a bit young and tannic. With a hearty winter stew and polenta it works. I would not drink it alone at this point. Excellent wine. Pure. Much better now then on release. Couple more years it should be stunning.

Very open and drinking well. Nice elegant, mid weight. Excellent nose, nice mid and very good finish. Acid and tannins resolved. I have had this a couple times years ago, and would say it is drinking much better now. Entering prime drinking window. Complex and smooth.

Light ruby. Medium/light weight. A little funk that gives way to sweet red fruit. Starting to develop a nice texture, but not there yet. Medium finish. I think while this is not a big year or big wine, a little more cellar time will benefit it greatly. 3 or 4 more years should do it. I liked this, and look forward to revisiting in the future.

A bit of bottle funk at first that quickly blew off. Medium purple. Sweet cool nose. Utterly delicious. Big, but smooth and balanced. I really love the texture of this. Cuvee Laurence seems to be very consistent in having purity and texture that is like silk. I have not had many CDP that silk would enter into a tasting note. But this wine in 95, 98 both tasted within the last few years, all exhibited that quality. I know this is made for early consumption, but from my experience, there is no need to rush to drink. Only thing after tasting it is going to be very hard to keep my hands off. Excellent wine. After a sting of disappointing Rhones from 07 it was great to recharge my CDP enthusiasm. Pegau is a must buy.

This bottle had quite a bit of brett. Funny, I don't remember the last one having any at all. Behind the brett, gobs of luscious fruit and minerals. Very bright and cheerful. Nice wine, going to be quite good in a few years.

My third bottle. This one was much more advanced than others. Consumed along other white burgs, this stood out as sweet and flabby. I really like this producer, but I do not have much faith in the ability of this 06 to age well. Drink up.

Pale light straw. White pepper, crushed rock and a hint of green mango. The wine really expands in mouth to coat palette with high acid mineral delight. Long finish. Fantastic sauvignon blanc.

Light gold with a slight darkness. Great bubbles, loads.... and I mean LOADS of flavors. Really full bodied, spicy wood still apparent, but not obtrusive. For such a rich wine this really maintains excellent freshness. Long finish. Excellent wine. Drinking nice, but for my taste I would hold a few more years.

My last bottle of 6. This wine has been a revaluation. Beautiful, high elevation mountain scents. So light on it's feet, but with plenty of flavor and character to spare. Gripping finish. A wonderful match to sheep's milk ricotta ravioli. All the charm of great Cru Beaujolais, but with Nebbiolo's tapestry like flavor profile. Wonderful stuff.

Sweet, tropical, full and long. Vanilla custard. Nicely balanced. From CA for sure, but had me thinking of Chave White Hermitage or a big style Condrieu. I was surprised I liked this so much. Really good.

Light straw. Nose is open, bouquet of flowers, honey, citrus and spicy exotic fruits. Good balance, with enough grip to counter the sweetness and floral elements. Very interesting and enjoyable. Drinking well, but will improve.

Golden color, just light the September late afternoon sunlight. A cornucopia of scents and flavors. All the usual suspects. I felt like a hummingbird drinking nectar. Overall very enjoyable. My only nit would be it is just a bit low on acid to support all that rich sweetness.

Dark Ruby. No nose... well with vigorous swirling there might be a hint of something. Excellent mouthfeel. Tannins are resolved and acid in check. Sweet fruit flavors, hint of orange peel, rock and spice. Really delicious and enjoyable to drink with dinner. Just too bad no aromas to go with it. By the end of the bottle it seemed that the tannin/ acids were kicking in a bit, which seemed odd to me, normally it is the other way around. Disappointing. Maybe an off bottle? Have a few more... time will tell.

2006 Mongeard-Mugneret Richebourg Richebourg Grand Cru Pinot Noir (view label images)
1 hour decant. Very primary and young. Nice balance and flavor profile. Oak is integrated and finish is long. Really not too hard to drink at all. Very promising. I would hold until 2017 at earliest, and that may even be too soon. Very nice.

copper with a hint of salmon. Nice mousse. Still fresh and delicious. This was just purchased this year (2010), so I was unsure of how it would turn out, but no worries. Very nice example of how a Rose can age. Complex yet still holding onto some fruit. good balance and finnish. Overall very nice drink, and very good QPR.

This was an utterly beautiful wine. Drinking young, but well. Surprisingly open. Nice bouquet, waves upon waves of flavor. Persimmon, olive, bacon fat, smoke, loads of sweet red and blue fruit. Fresh, and long. Lots of charm here. A joy to drink. 1st bottle of a case, this will be a fun one to follow over the years.

My second bottle consumed. I love this style. Full bodied, excellent balance long finish. Lemon curd, mineral, stone fruit and flowers. Aromatically soaring, light on it's feet.. This is excellent. Still very young, but very hard to resist. Stepped up to the plate after a 99 Roumier Corton was POXed.

Much, much better than last bottle. Excellent, drinking well.

Very light yellow. Super tight. Took an hour to just start to open. Chiseled, taunt and pure. Minerals and lemon. Stony with a hint of smoke. Last sip was the best. Needs more time. Excellant and very 07 in nature. Roulot makes my style of Meursault. Glad to have this since the other two wines of the flight were POXed grands. A Sauzet BBM 99 and Jadot 02 CC.

Medium purple. Floral nose, fruits, earth and a very strong wack of alcohol. On the palette, tight, extracted, some sweet fruit but again the alcohol overwhelms everything else. Not drinkable.
Day two, the same. Day three, starting to oxidize, poured down the drain.

After reading other reviews it seems like this may have been a bad bottle? Cork was good, bought from a good suppler on release and stored in cold cellar. Also tasted the VV bought at same time, and while not a style I personally like, the wine was fine.

Out of magnum. Light purple. A little closed at first pour, but opened rather quickly with air. Loads of black, blue and even some red fruits. Mineral, soil and game notes. Still tannic and structured. The nose keep changing every sniff. Yes, I would say Burgundian. I should have double decanted, the last couple pours clouded with sediment. For my taste I plan to hold on remaining bottles for a few more years to let the Tannins mellow. Good stuff!

This wine needed about 45 minutes to get going... but then wow! Dark, classic northern Rhone profile. Olive, smoke, bacon and brambles. Medium weight, great with food and character out the wazoo. Great QPR and drinking great now.

This was open for business. Nice bouquet, dry, mineral, and good acidity. Slate and Grapefruit. Drinking really well. A superb Riesling.

Light pink. Very elegant wine. Precise, pure and transparent. Chalky minerals mixed with crisp, juicy fruit. Fresh and delightful. Excellent rose.

Dark purple. Aromas jump from the glass. No sulfur and going strong. Very young. In fact, this wine seems younger than most 04 northern rhones I have had. Amazing wine of great purity, full volume and a monster finish that goes on and on. Truly excellent. My last non sulfur bottle, will hold the normal Reynards for a long, long time.

Dark purple to rim. Gorgeous nose of smoke, olive, raspberries and spice. Perfect balance, and while still very young, drinking surprisingly well. Very full mid palette lead into a long, long finish. One of my favorite northern Rhone wines yet to date. We tasted this blind along with the version with sulfur. It was clear as a bell that one was superior, and it was the non sulfur version. The major difference being much sweeter, crunchy fruity with sweet raspberries coating your tongue and a much fuller mid palette and finish. Not that the regular version is a slouch, it is great. It is just that this one has another dimension. Day two it did not change a bit. Extraordinary.

Gobs of sweet fruit, touch of oak. Medium body, medium finish. Very generous. Very ripe. Still in need of a few years bottle age, but I think this one will come around sooner than normal.

Nose not very expressive, but hints of whats to come with more bottle age. Big, dark very concentrated and full. Loads of dark fruits. Very extracted and ripe, but not at all overdone. Had a very interesting and unusual (for burgundy) eucalyptus or mint like flavor. Drinking young, but well now, I would suggest holding for 5 more years. Really good stuff.

Vibrate light garnet. Good bouquet starting to come together. Fresh, sweet fruit, good grip, full flavor and a very respectable finish. This is my 5th bottle of a case and the wine is evolving brilliantly. Much more body now, stronger more complex flavors and aromas. Really nice for Village level and still not at it's peak.

2006 Domaine Maume Mazis-Chambertin Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir (view label images)
Funky nose...brett most likely. Citrus, tea and earth. Some fruit, but the funk overtakes it. Drinkable, but not very likable at this point. Maybe in five years time this will straighten out, but I'm not sure. Disappointing.
Red
Lots of sweet red fruit and southern rhone personality. Refreshing to drink, plenty of grip. Not overdone like so many. Excellent Gigondas.
