Monday, February 20, 2012 - First, I am pretty impressed by Antonio’s take on the 09 Raveneau Vaillons and Butteaux. Based on Antonio’s review, I bought six of the 09 Butteaux and a case each of the Montée de Tonnerre and Vaillons. For me, Antonio's review on these is extremely valuable.

Pop and pour and drank over three days. Mostly white fruits, pear, lemon oil, lanoline, saline and limestone, all what one would expect from a young Raveneau 1er crus. The fruit expression is not as pure as the Vaillons. The palate is oily and unctuous but not much of the counterbalancing bright acidity. Both the nose and the palate seem to lack precision and overall impression is a bit flat. This reminds me a lot of the 06 Corton Charlemagne, ie ripe, fat but dull. If you enjoy the 06 white Burgundy in general, you may favor this a bit more.
