Thursday, March 27, 2014 - WOW! This is singing ...for me at least. It's not timid and yet it's ethereal and elegant. Perfectly balanced and 100% Grand Cru level Puligny Montrachet with a 1er Cru designation and value. Showing some of the fleshy ripeness of the 2009 vintage but with plenty of structure too. They hit this one out of the park. Amazing fruit, minerality and nose. Not a small wine but the 2007 Kistler Vinehill, we also drank tonight, is 3 times as big and 3 times less interesting. That said, I would dig the Kistler Vinehill on its own or in a CA tasting but, next to Carillon, you know why Puligny from a producer like Carillon is rarified, world class, Chardonnay. Drinking wonderfully right now with zero signs of premox.
