Ripe peach and apple with some tropical and anise hints. Very good density, good+ length. I like the balance for now, but find it soft on the finish, so will drink my remaining bottles within the next 3-4 years.

Probably shouldn't have opened this tonight but I was just a tad short with one btl for three of us prior to the Jackson Browne show plus some waiter pours. Finished just over 1/2 of it and gave the rest to my favorite waiter Jessica to keep. Another great btl showing a little fat after following the Dauvissat but still lovely. Tremendous depth and flavor range. Wish I had more time to spend with it but the opening act was scheduled to start in 15 minutes when we left OA.

Lots of ripe fruit showcasing peach with some tropical notes. Good power and purity that comes across as slightly opulent, making me think this best for the near- and medium-term.

A little more mellow this time, possibly related to the bottle being opened 2 days before (but kept in refrigerator under closure). No less interesting though and distinctly Burgundian. Slightly mealy, earthy and tasting of minerals more than fruit.

Too warm at first; I had to call for an ice bucket to salvage it. Maybe losing just a bit of its intensity but still very distinctive earth and dirt. Nicely dry and decent length. Certainly enjoyable but it's time to drink up.

White Frenchies at Sea Change (Sea Change at the Guthrie, Mpls, MN): Very pale gold color. This was another striking wine, brightly floral, peach, minerals, orange, mild oak. The palate is lively, balanced, very bright, peach, orange zest, clean brisk minerals, citrus, focused and long on the finish. A pleasure to drink.

WOW! This is singing ...for me at least. It's not timid and yet it's ethereal and elegant. Perfectly balanced and 100% Grand Cru level Puligny Montrachet with a 1er Cru designation and value. Showing some of the fleshy ripeness of the 2009 vintage but with plenty of structure too. They hit this one out of the park. Amazing fruit, minerality and nose. Not a small wine but the 2007 Kistler Vinehill, we also drank tonight, is 3 times as big and 3 times less interesting. That said, I would dig the Kistler Vinehill on its own or in a CA tasting but, next to Carillon, you know why Puligny from a producer like Carillon is rarified, world class, Chardonnay. Drinking wonderfully right now with zero signs of premox.

This is really impressive. It's thick, dense and rich. It is amazingly good for what is generally considered a modest premier cru. Very intense flavor; earthy, oily, meaty, leesy. It is surely at peak right now. I would have thought Chassagne rather than Puligny.

Interestingly, this was quite reserved and just not very showy. Nothing wrong, and fairly identifiable as Puligny, but very tight and unyielding. Hrm...

Not nearly as interesting as before. Perfectly sound, perfectly drinkable, juicy. Yet this time lacked flair and individuality that marked it as special before. Just a phase?

It seems like it's getting younger rather than older. Very clean, fresh, delicate, pleasant. But very linear at this infant stage. Interesting that a sample left out at room temperature all day became much denser, thicker, more powerful. This has a good future if it gets there before it succumbs to premox.

Wow, this is great white Burgundy! The oak is a little out front but not so much to be annoying. The fruit, minerality, balance and class displayed here are lovely. Very hapy to have a couple more. Wait at least 2yrs.

Mixed Frenchies Offline (Craftsman, Mpls): Medium gold color. Drank 1 glass over 1.5hrs. Nose is really open and expressive with toasty oak, apple, white fruits, citrus, and some earth. The palate shows good weight and depth of flavors with nice fruit and minerals and maintains some earthiness as well. Refreshing, clean, well balanced. 92+pts.

Astounding open and good. Bursting with soil, dirt, hay. Doesn't sound that tasty, but it's a joy for fans of earthy burgundy. No way this could come from anywhere else on the planet.

A combination of ripeness of fruit and a bit of sweet oak puts this a bit over the line for me. Some age ought to see the baby fat fall away but I don't think this will ever hold a patch to a comparable 07 or 08.

at first I was worried by an acrid note in the finish, but this blew off during the meal and the wine was what it is: a delicious Puligny.

A little more civilized this time but still shows the earthy, minerally side of burgundy. Relatively light but very well made. Excellent.
