Wow this is funky.
Ruby color. Nose is all funk. This is less forest floor and more compost pile.
Some cherry and red berry notes. A little brown spice is trying to peak out of the compost pile, but the funky, earthy notes get in the way. Not quite manure, but funky earthy nose and that affects the flavors.
One of the dirtiest funky PG wines I have had.
Sorry Jim.

So after the bottle being open for 8 days but kept in the refrigerator, I went back to re-taste the wine. I had some trepidation. Alas, most of the funk had passed. The wine showed some sign of oxidation but at least the funk/manure was gone and there was some showing of red berries and some herbal component. To me, this suggests a long decant if opening soon or more time in the bottle. I did increase my "rating" by 2 points.
