  • Pop and pour. Dark and rich, with loads of crystalline blackberry and pomegranate. Dense tannin at first and betrays a touch of heat. Didn't finish this before we left on the 23rd. Had again today and it was done.

  • Bought from the big Courtier cellar purchase. Note taken on the second half of second glass about 50 min after PnP.

In the glass a clear ruby; edges beginning to brown/brick.

Nose is cherries; tea; dried fruit in the strawberry vein; bit of petrichor; fresh sliced mushrooms; brown sugar; pepper(?); light touch of evergreen needles.

Palate is low tannin; mid acidity; mid light body; alc medium plus; medium finish; low-medium intensity; tiny bit savory but largely follows the nose with primary impression as soft cherry; tea; some earthy character; some lighter fruit character.

This was enjoyable enough that I didn’t open something else but I thought about it (to be clear I am not at all in the no waste camp and semi frequently toss drinkable stuff that just doesn’t land). It may be in an awkward teenaged phase between nervy energetic intense youth and developed complex savory earthy shroomy foresty maturity. This is to say it did not have much by way of tertiary development but simultaneously the fruit and structure are not very vervy. If I had another bottle, which I don’t, I’d probably put this in the “medium long haul” category in the hope it picks up more aged character despite what my memory and the ABV say was a pretty hot vintage.

  • This was fantastic! Will hold on to other bottle for a few years to see how it evolves

  • Wine seems to have grown up some since the 2019 TNs. Cherries present in nose and on palette, acidity balances the sweet flavors. Nice finish. Holding 2nd bottle to 2023-24 to see if the wine further matures.
