95 Points

Tuesday, June 4, 2019 - Zurich Supper Club in London (W/CVA and Andrew)- great start to Summer '19 (HIDE Restaurant - London, UK): Last wine of the evening, had been open 2+ hours by the time we got to it. One of my contributions, had to include a Syrah when drinking with Andrew.

Dark, vivid ruby color. Nose had some Northern Rhone characteristics when first drinking (earth and savory), evolving into cherry, blueberry, floral/violet, smoke. Rich palate of dark berries, cherry/chocolate, licorice, spices, vanilla and floral notes. Has a sweetness and persistence through the mid palate. Tannins are smoothed, full bodied and long finish.

Really excellent on this evening, nice way to finish the evening. At this point, the decant helped, it was tight when opened. Showing well after being open almost 2 hours. Not the fruit bomb I thought it might be from the reviews. In a great place but still on the young side (IMO), should continue to evolve and drink well for another 10+ years.
