2016 Mount Mary Quintet

Thursday, September 5, 2019 - At the Mount Mary Dinner, Stokehouse Q. Another delicious Quintet, this wine had a deep crimson colour with a lovey nose of cassis, dark cherry and plum, dark chocolate and violet with cedar touches. The palate is smooth and midweight fanning out with great complexity and persistence. A young wine with plenty of development ahead this is very classical stuff from this vineyard.

    9/7/2019 10:08:00 PM - Thanks for the 15, 16 and 17 comparison, it's very helpful. I have some 15's and 16's and I intended to lock in 17 and now I will..

Tell me do you think since Sam took the Helm back in 2011 they've improved? I've read the wines have trended towards a touch riper, less green but still kept the elegant light body which should bode well for cellering?

    Cheers Parko

9/8/2019 3:23:00 PM - Thanks Parko. Overall the Mount Mary team have succeeded in that difficult area of generational change not only in maintaining the charm of their family run business but aiming for and achieving continuous improvement. I think the recent vintages of Quintet show the rewards of their approach. Equally vintage conditions play a consistently important role and they appear to be working very hard to understand the vagaries of each year.
