Cassis, blackcurrant, dark plum, fig, spice, earthy notes and pepper. The palate is super elegant with dark restrained fruit, Christmas cake spices soft velvety tannins, persistent mid-palate, everything so well integrated , super clean, spicy and slightly sparkly finish.

Great drinking! Medium bodied long length, lovely nose , beautiful integration of berries and oak. Drank with a rare fillet of beef. Perfect combination. Will obviously hold for a considerable period of time, but drinks beautifully now.

Mount Mary Tasting - Langtons (Virtual with samples sent): Classic Bordeaux. Cassis. Blue/black fruited. Great structure. A sense of good fruit but tightly woven. Young but with lovely complexity showing. Leather, pencil, tobacco. Universal WOTN (inc winemaker) in small MM tasting.

At the Mount Mary Dinner, Stokehouse Q. Another delicious Quintet, this wine had a deep crimson colour with a lovey nose of cassis, dark cherry and plum, dark chocolate and violet with cedar touches. The palate is smooth and midweight fanning out with great complexity and persistence. A young wine with plenty of development ahead this is very classical stuff from this vineyard.
Return to Aus; 6/23/2019-7/5/2019 (Adelaide, South Australia wine regions, Tassie, Yarra, etc.): Ok, super baby killing. This was opened and decanted and I'll admit the first few sips didn't win any converts. It was just tight and slightly chewy tannin and hard to get much. We drank over the course of forty minutes with a lot of glass swirling and I will say it got much more compelling over that time, but if we had any bottles they would be laying down for many years. This does seem to have the right acid and general stuffing to be a good candidate for aging. As it softened up get more black cherry and almost a warm spice note. It's still too young, but I could see it turning into something quite lovely.

2 weeks in Australia with a stopover in Singapore; 6/14/2019-7/1/2019 (Singapore, Sydney, Adelaide, McLaren Vale, Barossa Valley, Adelaide Hills): From the wine list at HellBound (Adelaide). Decanted for about 20-30 minutes while we were working on the Aligoté - this seemed like it really needed hours to open up or better yet another 10 years of cellar time. Very young red & black fruits with strong notes of eucalyptus and spice cabinet - but tannins are brisk and not really pulled together at this point. Hold.
