94 Points

Friday, August 14, 2020 - Rich and concentrated showing excellent depth and complexity along with mid-palate intensity. A superb vintage for Beaucastel and CDP. Kirsch cherries, black raspberry liquor, damp earth, red flowers and balanced acidity. Finishes with excellent length while tannins continue to retain grip and firmness. Lots of life left but drinking beautifully now. 90 min decant minimum. I’d say similar to 95 and 98 for them in terms of structure and age-ability.

9/11/2020 2:39:00 PM - I am serving this from a 3L at a party tomorrow. Did you decant at all? If so any observations on how long the wine took to open?

9/11/2020 3:16:00 PM - @walkerjfw I’d decant 2 hours. 2005 has big structure. The wine showed best on final sips and that was with 90 min decant and then about 1 hour to drink. So I’d decent 2 hours minimum, especially with large format.
