2008 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage
4/25/2024 - finediningnyc Likes this wine: 94 Points
Excellent 08. Chave and Allemand really nailed the difficult vintage in Northern Rhône, and 2008 Hermitage is showing beautifully tonight, fresh, elegant and detailed with aromas of juicy red berry fruit, bacon, roasted herbs and smoky minerals. While not an exceptionally deep and concentrated rendition in 2008, it’s really a considerable success this year and it’s fully open, giving and ready to drink.

2002 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault 1er Cru Charmes
4/18/2024 - finediningnyc Likes this wine: 97 Points
When mature Lafon hits, oh man. When the Somm poured the one ounce taste, didn’t even need to. Aged white burg at its finest from 02 Charmes, still incredibly youthful and vibrant with captivating aromatics of spiced orchard fruit, toasted hazelnuts and butterscotch that comes in waves, and the palate is expansive, textural and stunningly complex, both rich and refined with a silky, crystalline mineral finish. Amazing wine.

2013 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuées
4/18/2024 - finediningnyc Likes this wine: 95 Points
2013 at top level continues to drink fabulously, and Mugnier’s Fuées, a magical vineyard and essentially a southern extension of Bonnes Mares, is stunning today on pnp (although last sips were the best) wafting layers of sweet strawberry-rhubarb, sous bois, rose petals, game and smoky minerals. It’s liquid velvet in the mouth with an energetic spine of cool minerality and balanced acids adding freshness and focus to its delivery. It’s simply a beguiling combination of power and elegance and a superb expression of the vintage.
