Tuesday, May 10, 2011 - Epson Imports Pre-Arrival 2007 Barolo and 2006/7 Brunellos (Liner & Elsen, Portland OR): Quite soft fruited aromas, with a pleasing hint of charcoal. Some earth and rocks as well, but this is primarily vibrant, deeply ripe cherry skins and seeds. Pleasing and soft on the palate, perhaps a bit too soft, as the flavors here are fairly juicy. Good, but not too complex. Spice, earth, rocks, and soil on the finish. Again the fruit here seems tending towards the over-ripe side, though there is some acid keeping it from going totally off the deep end. Even the tannins feel over ripe and soft. While I certainly enjoyed this, its definitely on the heavier, darker side of Brunello... I prefer them a bit more lithe. Not too typical for Lisini.
