92 Points

Friday, October 4, 2019 - Tasted blind. This wine is not yet ready. It is too powerful at this stage to show all the complex aromas it has in store. I would give this wine at least 5 more years of cellar time to let it calm down and shed some of its baby fat. Blind, I guessed it to be Central California GSM blend. It can probably reach 95 points one day, even though the alcohol is showing slightly and the length seemed only medium- but definitely not today.

TN: Very intense and powerful on the nose but especially the palate displaying dark ripe (at some point too ripe) fruit, earthy scents and especially a lot of herbs (fresh, anis) as well as lots of spices. It is fairly well delineated but at this young stage it is too ripe, alcoholic and powerful to show all the nuances that are there. The tannins are fine-grained and freshness is ok. Medium- length.

Decanting: Not decanted. I would give this wine at least 5 hours in the decanter.
