About 15 min double decanted and start consuming one hour later. The wine is medium plus in body, the nose is perfumed and sharp, bright acidity, good balance, great mid-palate, dark notes and wild forest, very nice refine finish.
It went well with pork and black rise mixed with Spanish chorizo.

Smooth, integrated. Beautiful medium/dark red/blue fruit and a complex forest floor nose with hints of eucalyptus (as any good Priorat should have). Decent tannic structure and soft tannins with an integrated acid structure that holds for a pleasantly long finish.

Expressive nose displaying ripe black fruit, blackberry jam, prune, Chambord, a hint of VA, garrigue, cinnamon and earth. Very good concentration, nicely layered black fruit, rich but also very silky and airy, medium acidity and mineral, very fine tannins and a long ripe black fruit driven finish with cinnamon at the end. This has opened up nicely, generous ripe warm fruit and much softer tannins.

Tasted blind. From the start hints of beef juice and nail polish that proved quite distracting. Fruit more raisin-like and surprisingly dark. Some darker herbal aromas. adds more red berry fruit after a while. On the palate soft tannin with plenty of acidity structure that adds freshness before the slightly more astringent finish. Plenty of heat, too. There was a dichotomy with the nose starting to feel tired but the palate still youthfully fresh. Had this in 2019 last and not evolving in the right direction.

No notes taken. Quite complex from start to finish, lots of ripe fruit, herbs, some farmyard and mushroom notes. Super fine structure, all has well mellowed together but there is still enough tension. This was very popular in the group but I have a bit mixed feelings as I‘m not sure this can go much further and to me it felt already on a downward path. Maybe just this bottle.
Decanting: No decanting needed.

Comes a bit harsh but softens on the palate. Big body. Elegant. Needs airation. If You like wines tasting like strawberry mixed with orange peel, then You should not miss this one. A hint of vanilla comes up at the end of a 30 second+ finish.

One of the best Clos Mogadors I have ever tasted. Very very complex and filigree. Not too massive but very strong. Impressive but flattering. Red berry nose, violets, woody tones. On the palate mineral and again red berries. Tannins like silk. Very pleasant to drink. With or without dinner.

Decanted 2 hours. This bottle was much better than my last one about 5 years ago. At that time it was too young. Now it was much better. After the two hours it had a slightly touch of heat. Another hour later, that heat subsided a bit and it was more pleasant to drink. 93 pts. at the moment. This might be even better with 5 more years in the cellar.

Just a great bottle of wine. My observations are consistent with the recent notes from others. Decanted for 4 hours before dinner and brought the bottle to a steak house opposite a 2013 Sinegal (Napa Cab with a lot of fruit).
My buddy said it the best: "I need to be drinking more of this type of wine."
I'll look to buy some recent vintages of this wine and in some quantity so I can try over time. 1 bottle left of the 2013.

This particular bottle is very tight. Slightly coiled concentrated black and red cherries, blackberry, lavender, dark spices and mineral. Excellent concentration, coiled black fruit, cool and precise, medium acidity, iron/limestone mineral, fine tannins and a medium to long coiled black and red fruit driven mineral finish. It will be interesting to revisit in five years but still needs at least another decade.

Muscular, dark, blackberry fruit with cassis, licorice and very active tannins. Absolutely must decant this wine for an hour plus to soften the wine and when you do…you get a beautiful, rich wine perfectly paired with any red meat.

Amazing as always. a "cool" vintage, is more than enough. Love it. Class and power in spades. Don't look for delicacy here, but in its style it is close to perfect. Can age for more than a decade easily I would guess. But really, with food and a decant this can be enjoyed perfectly right now.

A fantastic wine for the money. Powerful, but very distinctive, not high on glycerol or fruit driven. Minerals, herbs, depth... A real flavor packed mountain of taste that manages to remain elegant in all its power. Paired beautifully will charr grilled rib eyes (smoked olive pits and thyme). Can easily last 15+ years in the cellar judging by where this wine is now. Clearly youthful and to be drank with food if you want to try now.

A Night at Momo's (Momo Italian Kitchen, Dallas): Ripe cherry aromas with some vanilla, hints of herbs and oak spice. Palate also had ripe cherries that bordered on cherry cough syrup, herbs, significant vanilla and oak spice. Prominent tannins. Obviously very young but not my style.

Tasted blind. This wine is not yet ready. It is too powerful at this stage to show all the complex aromas it has in store. I would give this wine at least 5 more years of cellar time to let it calm down and shed some of its baby fat. Blind, I guessed it to be Central California GSM blend. It can probably reach 95 points one day, even though the alcohol is showing slightly and the length seemed only medium- but definitely not today.
TN: Very intense and powerful on the nose but especially the palate displaying dark ripe (at some point too ripe) fruit, earthy scents and especially a lot of herbs (fresh, anis) as well as lots of spices. It is fairly well delineated but at this young stage it is too ripe, alcoholic and powerful to show all the nuances that are there. The tannins are fine-grained and freshness is ok. Medium- length.
Decanting: Not decanted. I would give this wine at least 5 hours in the decanter.

Tasted blind. Animal flavours, marmalade type of red currant fruit, green tea. Lots of acidity burning away inside of your mouth. Firm tannins with grip. Full bodied. Definitely needs more time for all pieces to balance out - but admittedly this was against a line-up of either well aged wines or more accessible New World ones. Probably deserves another try.

More Coravin Craze.

For a wine of such fame, and justly so, it can still be purchased at a reasonable QPR. I was fortunate enough to have a bottle with my wife at The Gidleigh Park Hotel last night. Served with Dartmore loin of venison. A perfect pairing. The wine has great dark fruits on the nose very full in the mouth with the tannins still supplying just a touch to much ‘edge’ to wine experience. Overall very satisfying wine showing much potential for the future. For those who like bottle age, I do, it will be much rounder and smoother in a few more years and last at least another 15 from now.

Darker purple color. Notes of cassis, blackberries, some violet pastilles, dark minerality, some smoke, graphite, also some sweet spices, tobacco, also some black olive. It‘s pretty full-bodied, with superb freshness, high acidity, medium+ tannin. Excellent length. A super complex, young but very promising. A superb Clos Mogador of the very highest level. Wow, very impressive. (96+)

I opened this at our belated Thanksgiving dinner on 11/25/17. It had a rich, deep, fragrant and elegant bouquet of violet, black cherry, blackberry, raspberry, licorice, sage, spice and mineral aromas. The palate was dense, powerful and elegant with flavors of black cherry, raspberry, licorice, spice and minerals.

Consumed over 2 days (vacuvined), note from day 2. Nose: Medium-plus expressiveness, dark flowers - violets, black berry, bing cherry, bubblegum, and rock candy - somewhat muted on day 1, much more expressive on day 2. Palate: Full bodied, tangy dark red fruit attack, spice driven mid-palate kick, earth and dark licorice join in the back-end. Finish: Medium length dominated by spice and dark red and black fruit.

Consumed over 2 days (vacuvined), note from day 2. Nose: Medium-plus expressiveness, dark fruit dominates - cassis and blueberry, with bright red fruit undertones - cherry, with hints of vanilla and shoe leather. Palate: Medium-bodied, dark red fruit, blue fruit, and allspice attack, solid acidic backbone, earthiness and ripe fruit appear in the back-end. Finish: Medium length, dominated by spicy dark red and blue fruit. Sat on counter in 72-75 degree temps for 27 hours after initial pop and pour, seems I missed the sweet spot as this seemed slightly oxidated on day 2 - but still drinking very well.

Very ripe red fruits which I associate with Grenache, Chambord, cherry, blackberry, fruit cake, a hint of beef blood and oak, dark flowers and mineral. Exceptional concentration, very precise, airy and silky palate that I associate with truly great wines, bright acidity and strong mineral presence and incredible long finish. The nose is very ripe yet the palate is fresh and precise. I imagine and hope that this will age like Rayas, ie ripe fruit but Burgundian palate. We will see.

Bordeaux en primeur makes me ponder about choices: what to buy or not to buy. So many great wines (no doubt in my mind), but what else can I buy with the cash of a case of Vieux Chateau Certan or similar. This bottle of Clos Mogador helps me to tune back my imminent spending frenzy on unbottled left and right banks. What a spectacular wine. By all means, this blows my mind when it comes to depth, balance, nuance, interest and class. all that already bottled and good to go in a couple of years (I even like this now). around 50 euros difficult to find a better buy of this quality level imho.

Nose: Clean nose with a Medium+ intensity. This wine is youthful.
The concentration in this wine is huge; tightly wound but ripe red and black fruits, liquorice, graphite, smoke pepper and vanilla. Just an absolutely dense, beautiful wine with so much to give being drank in youth; you can only imagine how this will express itself over the next 1-8 years.
Palate: Dry Medium+ tannins High acidity High alcohol Pronounced intensity Full bodied
As with the nose, this wine is powerful and tightly coiled with ripe black and red fruit, liquorice and oak spices straining at the leash. That this wine is 15% alcohol and one of the first words I thought of was 'refreshing' is a testament to Rene Barbier and his excellent team. Great Gratallops style wine and I would expect this to improve over the coming years, as it slowly unfurls itself.
Outstanding quality blend from Priorat, Spain. Can be drank now but will definitely improve over the next 1-8 years. At 55 euros a bottle; not the cheapest but still excellent QPR.

Dark fruit, minerals, floral even. Grip (like michelin pilot super sports), grenache peaking through, lengthy and extremely youthful. amazing and impressive wine. Not too much. Heat is not disturbing to my palate at all.
Black cherries, roasted meat, very black incense, characoal... taste is quite light at entry but building up with time, tannins present, average lenght.
At winery with Rene Jr.: Dark blue and blackberry, vanilla and licorice; good minerality, rich and full bodied; soft ripe tannins, quite structured, slightly hot. Very nice, very priorat.

Dark black fruits, licorice, asphalt, liquid minerals, backend still has a lot of tannins, but overall very good with some greater potential in 3-5 years.

Very nice nose of ripe black fruit, bacon, smoke... Super silky tannin, very sappy red and black cherries, more approachable than the 2012

Huge nose of black fruit and chocolate, very concentrated, almost decadent, cigar box, cèpes de Bordeaux... Taste is loaded with tons of very sappy tannin, huge ripe black fruit, but super refreshing acidity... Lenght of 45 sec!!

Decanted 1 hours. Prefered to decant it longer. Very young at the moment. Deep dark colour. Intense nose. Felt much lighter than it is (15%). A very good bottle with good potential. I guess with more air it would have been even better. Give it another 2-4 years. 91-92 pts.

Appearance: Clear wine with a deep purple colour.
Palate:
Dry
Medium+ tannins
High acidity
High alcohol
Pronounced intensity
Full bodied

At winery with Rene Jr.: Dark blue and blackberry, vanilla and licorice; good minerality, rich and full bodied; soft ripe tannins, quite structured, slightly hot. Very nice, very priorat.
