88 Points

Monday, August 25, 2014 - Weekly tasting group #132; Mas de Daumas red 9 vintages plus some extra's. (@ DJ): The bouquet is not really expressive, but there are some red and dark berry fruit impressions as well as some vegetal notes. On the palate red and dark berry fruits as well, spiciness, clove, licorice, some chocolate a lot of acidity and drying tannin with still a firm bite. Some tasters thought this was an early 2000 wine. Amazing that a wine of this age can still have so much fresh acidity and tannin. At this moment I don’t think the wine will improve anymore, but the acidity and tannin structure are special and it wouldn’t surprise me this bottle is still drinkable in 2020 and maybe even a bit better than today. Today’s score was 88.
