95 Points

Tuesday, January 3, 2023 - This is an very layered, highly precise wine that, however, shouldn‘t be opened right now as it is still a tad wild and has to integrate further. No early drinking window open. The 94/95 pts shows what it is today, already interesting and quite enjoyable wine. The potential, of course, is much higher.

TN: potpourri of ripe but not too ripe fruit, lots of minerality, some coffee notes. On the palate even more expressive, layered with loads of dark berries, blue fruit, well balanced with a lot of minerality and earthy notes, coffee and toast. With time so red berries too. A bit wild, but the Montrose 2019 in the glass, was much wilder.

Decanting: Followed the wine over days and it never fully opened up and became totally round. No amount of decanting will get it there.
