Mouton dinner (La Chaumiere in Georgetown): Expressive nose displaying primary black and blue fruit, crushed blueberry, crème de cassis, ink, licorice, a hint of mocha, dark flowers, dark spices and crushed rocks. There is a strong Cabernet green/jalapeño note. Excellent concentration, layers upon layers of intense perfectly ripe black and blue fruit, rich but silky and weightless, exceptional finesse, perfect amount of acidity and mineral, tannins fully masked by generous primary fruit, and a seamless long concentrated black and blue fruit driven finish with a hint of licorice at the end. Since not showing obvious tannins, someone mentions the more approachable wine making style. IMO, most well-made young Bordeauxs will not show much tannins due to the generous primary fruit. It will take a few more years before the tannins become more noticeable. I really love the freshness. This is a classic Cabernet Sauvignon driven Mouton.
This is a polished and aristocratic wide, boasting a wide array of fruit, on balance more dark and blue, such as black currant, dark cherry, blueberry and brambleberry. Mineral notes of iodine and an earthy layer that adds depth. Immensely complex, adding new flavors with every swirl such as black coffee, white pepper, dark chocolate and herbaceous notes. Well-balanced palate with soft but present tannin. Precise and linear. While clearly brutally young and there is definitely no need to rush into popping any of these for a decade, this appeared already destined for greatness.

This is an very layered, highly precise wine that, however, shouldn‘t be opened right now as it is still a tad wild and has to integrate further. No early drinking window open. The 94/95 pts shows what it is today, already interesting and quite enjoyable wine. The potential, of course, is much higher.
TN: potpourri of ripe but not too ripe fruit, lots of minerality, some coffee notes. On the palate even more expressive, layered with loads of dark berries, blue fruit, well balanced with a lot of minerality and earthy notes, coffee and toast. With time so red berries too. A bit wild, but the Montrose 2019 in the glass, was much wilder.
Decanting: Followed the wine over days and it never fully opened up and became totally round. No amount of decanting will get it there.

Nez leger de poivrons, fruits rouges, sous-bois... Loads of concentration, super voluptuous, ripe tannin, loads of ripe red cherries, very delicious.
