Monday, October 22, 2012 - Originally opened 10/20/12, tasting note from half of the remaining bottle, left corked at cellar temperature, 2-3 days later.
Color is med ruby, fading to light ruby at the rim. The nose has really opened up from a few days ago, showing med(+) intensity of a bouquet of fresh roses, joined with strawberry and tart cherry fruit, with a nice undercurrent of rocky minerality. On the palate, this medium bodied, dry wine has lovely structure, nicely integrated tannins that are still firm yet rounded in the mouth, and firm med(+) acidity, making it a nice match for food. The flavors show mostly sour cherry and strawberry fruits, a bit of earthy and savory flavors including wet soil and sweet tobacco, leading into a well-balanced finish that is med length, with red fruit and minerals. This wine is drinking well now, and will continue to drink well for the next 7 years or so. Very, very nice Chianti.
