Wednesday, August 6, 2014 - Double decanted three hours prior. Aromas of slightly sour black over red berry fruit, green over black peppercorn, cream and spice. I also get a few less intense scents coming through with time - hints of rockiness, a weird touch of plasticine and a slightly confected/candy floss note - I think my nose is out of whack. In the mouth the wine has medium acid but quite sour red and black berry fruit which grapples on the palate with green and black peppercorn notes. There is tongue coating fine, talc like tannic grip. A little alcohol warmth, which isn't intrusive, carries on the medium plus length finish with the spicier elements. Hmm. Probably getting the intrusive sourness because this came after a Spatlese...
