Wednesday, October 17, 2012 - Fabulous wine. Gorgeous nose of perfectly ripe (not overripe) dark berry fruit, leather, herbs, truffles, undergrowth. Wreaks of very high quality french oak. Lots of spice, charcoal and vanilla. Palate is plush and delicious with moderate tannins and moderate to low acidity. I don't find much in the way of classic tuscan character in this wine, but I don't care because it is so delicious. The wine was opened 4 hours before consuming so air likely helped. The cork was stained more than half way up so there were questions about it had become more advanced due to storage (by LCBO?).
