Saturday, October 16, 2010 - Ojai and Burgundies - Not a Bad Saturday (Weygandt Wines - Washington, D.C.): bright purple colored in the glass. reduced cherries, raspberries and chocolate cake on the nose. yeah, yeah, yeah, this doesn't smell like pinot, but it smells damned good. straight-up schwartzwaldenkuche (black forest cake). so rich and creamy on the palate that i can't help but love this wine. dark fruit, chocolate cake, raspberry pie filling and purple laffy taffy candy. rich, but not gloppy.
