A tough question to answer given there has been a big resurgence in quality at this vinyard (Bizot, MugneretGibourg, Liger Belair, Naudin, DRC, etc), but for me, this is certain contender.
Bright ruby with a hint of garnet. Crystal clear. A luscious nose of intense perfume with deep complexity and barnyard. Light to medium bodied and so elegant for what is usually a structured vintage. Bright red fruits and not the deep and dark fruits I perhaps expected. For me, the greatest 1999 I have tried so far (mainly because many are still so closed) and potentially the best Echezeaux. Drank at Baumaniere (3 star restaurant in Provence).

Man this was good. Gorgeous floral spice to the aroma along with pristine cherry fruit. It has some sweet meaty flavours and delicious dark fruits. It is lacy and layered, possess excellent depth and really fans out on the finish. Still very youthful and a wine of beautiful poise and balance.

'99 Red Burgundy Tasting: Heavenly aromatics, palate was not as forthcoming. This needs some air to come together, and the more time it had the better it got. This is probably a good candidate for slow ox, not for pop and pour as we did today.

Having tasted the Dujac Echezeaux 1999 last year, I recognized him from its lightness and forwardness from the crowd, in hindsight the Dujac was the oldest wine that evening. Low pitched mixed fruits and dried herbs with a meaty tannin scent. Fine-grained tannins with some grip (a notable 1999 characteristic). Came from a different source, bot as good as the bottle from last year. (92/100)

Ruby coloring. Perfume and red fruits in the nose. Wine was powerful but composed. Beautifully structured with more red fruit, spice, and floral elements on the palate underscored by a pleasant minerality. Fantastic bottle!

Wow, this bottle is perfectly mature tonight with a fabulous silky and creamy texture and great subdued flavors of blueberry and cherry. Finishes smooth and complex with notes of spices and minerals. Very different from the '99 CDLR tasted alongside as that wine had more acidity and vigor but this was simply gorgeous and the more ready of the two.

Dinner at Amuse Bouche, Hong Kong. Dark red, slight hint of bricking at the rim. Rather closed on the nose initially with some violets, cherries, pomegranate, white pepper, incense and sandalwood. This seemed a little robust and meaty for a Vosne. On the palate, quite simplistic, with sweet red fruit, new leather, sandalwood, earth and braised meat. While appearing slightly closed, this seems to lack the complexity, depth and ripeness of a good 1999. It probably would improve in a few years, but not really worth the current price.

This bottle was much more primary than any I have had before. blind I would have aid, open in 5 to 10 years. Deep fruit, all Dujac signature but no secondary or tertiary elements.

Classic Dujac character. This bottle was hitting on all cylinders. Spicy sweet Vosne fruit. Still primary but on the verge of turning the corner. Super elegant and very approachable. Kept getting better in the glass and will continue to develop in bottle. Tough to keep hands off.

Gorgeous nose of sex and spice, flavor is so good it makes you want to dance. Massive breadth and depth, loooooong finish. Heavy Dujac signature here, but can't argue with the results. Still amazing after 90 minutes in the glass...

Purplish red color, youthful, rich and spicy nose. By far the most elegant Echezeaux we have ever tasted. Very youthful, but drinking beautifully. Gets better with time. Rich, bright, complex and velvety and one of Stephanie's favorite wines. She gave it a 99

Lac Dujac (Braeburn): Here is a wine that nobody will accuse of being too lean in the center. There is so much fruit here that the wine seems to be constantly wringing more juice out of the grapes as you drink it. And it's extremely concentrated, coming across almost gelatinous in density. But there's not only more material here than the '01, there's also more detail, and a light cinnamon dusting on the finish seems to be hinting at some of the aromatic development to come (and which is already strong in the 1996). The almost overwhelming intensity of midpalate fruit in this wine smothering the structure, combined with the conspicuously thin midpalate of the 2001 drawing attention to its structure, gave me an idea... and an impromptu blend of the 1999 and 2001 turned out to be more balanced than either wine on its own.

13.0% alcohol. Dark red color. Sumptuous nose with red and black cherry, earth, spice, and flowers, with a distinct masculine, almost iron-like note. In the mouth, doesn't quite deliver the purity and excellence of the nose. Nevertheless a textural delight that is plush, refined, and balanced impeccably. Velvety and smooth, with enough richness. Solid acidity but no hard edges. Solid finish. A-

Insane with Wagyu steak tartare. Outstanding with roasted turbot. Defines balance in a food wine. My first, but certainly not last, Echezeaux. Where Dujac apparently does some its best work.

Give this a few minutes of air. A very fine Burgundy in the style of Leroy with syrupy layered complexity mixing red primary and secondary fruits. Improves in the glass to great heights. Dujac apparently is worth his superstar rep and prices at least as far as this bottle and reviewer is concerned. This wine should age beautifully: a thin fine understructure of tannin should show interesting continual evolution. A great wine.

A few Sunday burgs at Jeffs house.: Jeff started us off with a 99 Dujac Echezeaux. The nose was great, almost kinky. The palate was tight, and somewhat unyielding. And it was an unusual tightness. For you Spinal Tap fans, it was like the volume was turned down to "5", rather than "11" (man). The rest of the group liked it better than me. I'd leave this in the cellar for a while if I owned it.

It hits with intense cherry liqueur and spice, with more earthy tones than any other Dujac I’ve had. It shows its youth with a spike of acid in the middle, but air quickly brings out fruit to return the wine to balance, as it surges to a lingering, complex finish. A delight that is approachable now, but that really needs 5 – 10 years to fully show its stuff.

Outstanding and still getting better. Deep, dark, rich and truly of the terroir. Long, rich and intense. Echezeau may not get better
