Served with a range of desserts by friends at a dinner party. Just a brief note: Lovely colour and nose. Complex palate with apricots, citrus, gentle spice. A beautifully balanced wine with sweetness that was not cloying and with ideal levels of acidity. Long, with very good mouthfeel. A memorable wine.

Excellent glas of sauternes from a prominent wine maker.Excellent year 1997. Ready to drink - will not develop but for sure keep its high quality next many years. Drink it at 12-14 degrees. Had it for five years in my cellar. Got it for 30$ - nice p/q ratio. Nose of sweet orange/citrus, lime, caramel, Sirup and cocus was what we found. Had a perfect amount of sweetnes( low scale) - so round and easy drinking. Perfect balance of acid and tannins. Enjoyed it with fois gras de canard, toast, phsyalis and balsamico. That was after some nice oyesters and Collet Champagne for starters. Ended the meal with lobsters and Nicolas Feuillatte Cuvee speciale 2000, Millesime. Great great new years evening. Happy new year. La Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin (Vancouver) (Diva at The Met): Medium gold in colour. On the nose notes of honey, botrytis, Christmas cake and saffron. Lighter in the mouth with tropical fruit flavours. Good amount of acidity and overall well-balanced. Some spicy notes coming through on the medium length finish. Can be drunk now but there is no rush. Good.

I brought this to Greg and Kristin's wine-oriented party last night. Without flattering myself, this was the oenological highlight of the evening. Pale yellow color. A notable petrol bouquet (Greg said "Toluene!") which put a few weaker souls off. But the taste was exquisite— very crisp, focused bitter citrus with an herbal note. Jess likened it to a lemon and honey cordial. If you can pick it up at under $35, an excellent QPR.

Medium gold. Medium/medium + intense, candied fruit, apricot and spice. Hints of marmalade on the second day. On the palate this is medium + bodied with medium acidity and reasonable concentrated candied stone fruits with hints of marmalade. However there are also green, under-ripe notes which although not overly noticeable on the mid-palate, become more obvious on a somewhat abrupt finish. Overall, somewhat disappointing.

La Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin (Vancouver) - Canadian Grand Conseil 2011 (The Sutton Place Hotel): Medium gold in colour. Nose of baking spice, saffron, deep fried bananas and crème brûlée. Medium weight in the mouth but could use tad a more acidity. A nice, fairly easy drinking mature Sauternes that can be drunk now or held for a few more years. Very good.

Remains pale; muted nose, one dimensional; lightweight, lacklustre. Abrupt finish.

Big, balanced, very sweet, but enough botrytis to give it life.

Red Carpet: More hi-notes; gas, essence; acidic end; hard to figure this one out.
