Tasted many times during the last 2½ years. Tasting experience differs significantly going from"past it's best" to "too young". This bottle was too young: Lots of non integrated tannin and also licorice. This specific bottle needed ageing. Fortunately only 3 left in cellar.

Nose of red currant, blackberry, cherry, cedar, violet, rose, truffle, earth, coffee, leather, and tobacco.
The palate is resolved but authoritative, showing cassis currant, olive,, spice, vanilla, black cherry, plum, smoke, toast, tar, lead, cedar.
The patience pays off. This is drinking amazingly well right now. Demonstrates how good classic winemaking delivers. Will hold for a couple more years but absolutely no reason to wait. 90.

I brought this bottle to a time share for Thanksgiving. I arrived on Saturday, so it had 4+ days to rest and was cushioned on the trip up here. I had hoped to share this bottle with several others, but things happen. Without a decanter, I opened the bottle about four hours before we ate. I found it most enjoyable with a fine nose. The tannins have mellowed and the fruit is still quite nice. There seems to be a slightly acidic aftertaste if one searches for it - maybe a sign that it has reached the peak and is ready to slide downhill. I believe I have one more bottle of this and will love to enjoy it with friends.

Improved with 1-2hrs of air. Smooth and precise. Fair expression of this reliable St Estephe terroir. Drink or will hold. Shame I have only one bottle.
Needed a couple of hours in a decanter but after airing it eased the tannins a made this a very smooth and enjoyable wine. Still plenty of life left so no hurry to drink.

Bought this at a reasonable price and was curious to see if it would be worth further purchases. It was a bit blocky/monolithic on opening, and I was a little disappointed. I decanted it for 2 hours, and it transformed wonderfully, taking on all the lovely mineral elegance of the 06 Calon Segur, though scaled back a bit. The nose is fresh with ground coffee hints. Beautiful red berries come through on the palate with a mid length mineral finish. Very moreish indeed. This really needs some time yet - I would give it 5 years.

Much better now than it was a couple of years ago. With 1hr in a decanter was smooth, tannins smooth, and actual fruit! It's not a blockbuster, but very correct for the appellation (which is all you can ask for the price).

Generic mid level Bordeaux with a bit of age on it. For once I would say this would have been better 2-3 years ago. Now this is all fading fruit, fading structure but without any tertiary development. This shows the narrow range between a good and bad Bordeaux. It could have been really nice, and but for a few tweaks here and there ...... well....
Left Bank Bordeaux tasting (Le Petit Sommelier): The nose is clean with med+ intensity, more fruit than the Chateau Lagrange 2006 that was tasted alongside, currant and black berry, dense character, tobacco leaves, bell pepper, minty, with time the wine opens and we get a rather sweeter expression, youthful to developing. The wine is dry, med body, med+ intensity, med alcohol, med/med+ acidity, tannins are med/med+ , the acidity is cutting through the red cherry and currant, feels rather linear without much depth, finish rather short. The palate gives less than the nose. Very good quality, drinking now but can hold

Different from previous bottles, with considerably more age in appearance and nose. Burgundy with hints of dried blood; medium body. Nose of black fruits with some wet wool, slightly dusty. Tastes of good blackcurrant and blackberry juice; chewy with some sour cherry fruits. Some blueberries, increasing towards the finish with a sour, spirity, spicy finish. Perhaps drying out, but better balance of tannins and spicy fruits than expected.

Nice ruby colour, medium (-light) bodied. Restrained nose - gentle bramble fruits with a little dusty spiciness and then some black pepper. Perhaps a little woodiness. Very dry, tannic flavours at first: cassis thins initially but then comes back after an hour or so. Better than the last bottle, which was a rogue bottle, but on this basis only a year or so left.

Popped and drunk. Smell very similar to Calon. High alcohol nose, high acid, boysenberry nose. High acid taste. Taste is lacking a bit of depth. The nose is very good compared to the flavors. Not bad, but not great.

Nydelig Bordeaux fra Saint Estephe. Drikkes perfekt akkurat nå og har integrerte tanniner. Dekanter i ca 1 time.

Dry, tannic, with spices but... Boring and four-square. Little improvement with a few hours of air. Pass.
